Abstract: Disclosed are devices, systems, kits, and methods for controlling liquid flow and, e.g., in particular, for forming droplet having substantially uniform droplet-to-droplet content. The devices, systems, and kits may include a first channel including a funnel or may include a first channel and a first-side channel, the first channel being in fluid communication with a droplet formation region. The devices, systems, and kits may further include a second channel fluidically connected to the first channel or the first side-channel. Funnels and/or side-channels may be used to enhance the control over particle spacing in the channels, thereby providing superior control over the number of particles of the same kind in formed droplets. The devices, systems, and kits of the invention may further include a mixer downstream of a channel intersection. Mixers can be used to reduce localized pockets of high concentration of dissolved ingredients.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes identifying a mobile service provider network (SPN) and a geographic location of an online social network user and accessing a service-provider table associated with the identified mobile SPN and with the geographic location. The service-provider table indexes a reliability score and a sampling amount for multiple messaging-service providers in the geographic location. The method further determines, based on the service-provider table, whether any of the messaging-service providers has a sampling amount below a threshold sampling amount and sends messaging traffic via the determined messaging-service provider until the sampling amount is greater than or equal to the threshold sampling amount. The messaging traffic is used to update the reliability score for the messaging-service provider.

Abstract: Described herein are inventive compositions and methods relating to sampling of biopolymers and, in particular, to fractional sampling of biopolymers. In one aspect, embodiments are generally related to unique biopolymer species where a fraction of each biopolymer species contains a cleavable linker. The biopolymer species may, in some embodiments, be attached to a surface. For example, the biopolymer species may be attached to beads. In some embodiments, a portion of a unique biopolymer species may be sampled by cleaving the cleavable linker. In some cases, the sample may be analyzed to determine the sequence of the biopolymer.
