    Abstract: In accordance with at least some embodiments, a process for determining the safety of an elevator may be implemented to collect, by an acceleration sensor, an operational measurement of the elevator in operation, wherein the operational measurement includes a velocity measurement of the elevator. The process may be implemented to determine, by a processor, an operational status of the elevator by evaluating the operational measurement. The process may further be implemented to generate, by the processor, a warning signal when the operational status indicates that the elevator is operating abnormally.
