  • Patent number: 11137126
Abstract: A projector-type vehicle headlamp not having a physical shade is disclosed. The vehicle headlamp comprises a first light source for emitting light, a lens through which the light exits the headlamp, and a first optics for receiving light from the first light source and directing the received light towards the lens, with the lens having a focal surface between the first optics and the lens, and with the lens having an optical axis. The first optics is configured to generate multiple images of the first light source on the focal surface above an intersection line of the focal surface with a reference plane, with the reference plane containing the optical axis of the lens, and with the reference plane enclosing an angle in the range of 0-45 degree with a horizontal plane when the headlamp is installed in a vehicle. The first optics is a curved reflector with an elliptical side edge.

  • Patent number: 11067725
Abstract: The embodiments of the invention provide a multi-focal collimating lens and a headlight assembly for an automotive low beam. The multi-focal collimating lens includes a central collimating lens portion and two total internal reflection lens portions arranged on a left side and a right side of the central collimating lens portion. The central collimating lens portion and the total internal reflection lens portions share two focal points symmetrically located on both sides of a vertical symmetry plane of the multi-focal collimating lens. An upper edge and a lower edge of the multi-focal collimating lens are formed based on the two focal points, so that the headlight assembly is able to generate a cut-off line of the automotive low beam in a far-field light pattern of the multi-focal collimating lens.

  • Patent number: 10955100
Abstract: The present invention provides a light emitting module with a light guide plate for an automotive headlight, which light guide plate includes a front surface for exiting light; a rear surface positioned opposite to the front surface and used as a first light incidence surface for introducing a first light beam; and a side surface positioned at a side of the light guide plate and used as a second light incidence surface for introducing a second light beam. The light guide plate has a number of concave structures at the rear surface thereof for refracting the first light beam downwards towards the ground and for reflecting the second light beam forwards towards the front surface of the light guide plate. The overall output light beam pattern according to the present invention would appear to be uniform.

  • Patent number: 8757836
Abstract: A lighting apparatus includes a bilaterally symmetrical light engine comprising first and second light emitting diode (LED) devices or planar LED device arrays facing opposite directions, and an envelope including phosphor spaced apart from and surrounding the bilaterally symmetrical light engine. The phosphor is effective to convert light emitted by the light engine to emission light. The bilaterally symmetrical light engine may be configured to emit light having a bilaterally symmetrical intensity distribution that is uniform except at emission angles within 10° of the symmetry plane of the bilaterally symmetrical light engine. Each of the first and second LED devices or planar LED device arrays may comprise at least one hemispherically emitting LED device including an LED chip and an encapsulant encapsulating the LED chip and shaped to refract light emitted by the LED chip into a uniform distribution over a hemispherical solid angle.
