Patent number: 9822915Abstract: A pipe connection comprises a connecting piece, a pipe and a clamping ring. The pipe and the clamping ring are made of a material having memory properties. An end of the pipe and the clamping ring have been reversibly expanded co-jointly and firmly and sealingly shrunk to the connecting piece by back shrinkage. Preferably the clamping ring is made from a cross-linked polyolefin by injection molding.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 2006Date of Patent: November 21, 2017Assignee: Uponor Innovation AbInventors: Jarmo Smahl, Peter Hauki, Thomas Larsson, Yngve Lundequist, Mats HÃ¥llen

Patent number: 9248617Abstract: A pipe end is expanded by an expander tool (1) comprising a plurality of jaws (10), which are radially movable in relation to a center axis between a retracted position and expanded position. The jaws (10) when retracted are intended to be inserted into the pipe end. The jaws (10) have outer jaw surfaces which are intended for engagement with the inner surface of the pipe end and which lie adjacent to one another in the retracted position of the jaws (10). The tool (1) further comprises a piston (2) or a cone with a tapered end for moving the jaws (10) between said positions and means moving the piston (2) or the cone in a reciprocating manner in the axial direction for expanding the pipe end. The tool (1) further comprises support structures whereby the jaws (10) are supported in a circumferential direction in the expanded position. A method for expanding a pipe using such a tool is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 2011Date of Patent: February 2, 2016Assignee: UPONOR INNOVATION ABInventors: Yngve Lundequist, Hakan Persson, Erika Sundqvist Byhlin, Johan Backlund

Patent number: 7753414Abstract: A pipe coupling for connection to a pipe end of pipe made of polymer material includes an inner sleeve which is intended for insertion into the pipe end and for abutment with the inner surface of the pipe end, and an outer sleeve which is intended for abutment with the outer surface of the pipe end and which includes a slot-like opening. The pipe coupling also includes a device for adjusting the opening, and a pre-widening device positioned between the edges of the slot-like opening. The pre-widening device makes the slot-like opening larger such that the inner diameter of the outer sleeve is larger than the outer diameter of the pipe.Type: GrantFiled: November 28, 2006Date of Patent: July 13, 2010Assignee: Uponor Innovation ABInventors: Peter J. Hauki, Yngve Lundequist

The coupling further comprises a pre-widening means positioned between the edges (21) of the slot-like opening (14). The pre-widening means makes the slot-like opening (14) larger such that the inner diameter of the outer sleeve (2) is larger than the outer diameter of the pipe.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 28, 2006Publication date: November 27, 2008Applicant: Uponor Innovation AbInventors: Peter J. Patent number: 6422269Abstract: The invention relates to a multilayer plastic pipe (1), preferably for use in heating systems. The multilayer pipe comprises an inner core (2) and a barrier layer (6) surrounding the core and preventing oxygen diffusion through the multilayered pipe. The core (2) is made of a material having viscoelastic properties, preferably cross-linked polyethylene, and the barrier layer (6) is surrounded by an outer layer (8) of a material having adhesive properties. The invention also relates to the use of a multilayer pipe for providing pipe couplings.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 2000Date of Patent: July 23, 2002Assignee: Wirsbo Bruks ABInventors: Bengt Johansson, Yngve Lundequist, Rauno Asplund

Patent number: 6361082Abstract: The present invention relates to a pipe coupling for connection to a pipe end of a pipe made of polymer material and intended preferably for tap water or heating installations. The pipe coupling includes an inner sleeve intended for insertion into the pipe end and for abutment with the inner surface of said pipe end. The coupling further includes an outer sleeve intended for abutment with the outer surface of said pipe end. The outer sleeve is provided with a slot-like opening and means for adjusting the width of said opening. When the outer sleeve is in a tightened, adjusted state, the sleeve will be internally and externally cylindrical. A center axis through the outer cylindrical surface of the outer sleeve is spaced at a distance from a center axis through the inner cylindrical surface of the outer sleeve. In the tightened, adjusted state of the outer sleeve, the internal radius of said sleeve is smaller than the external radius of said pipe end.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 2001Date of Patent: March 26, 2002Assignee: Wirsbo Bruks ABInventors: Peter Hauki, Yngve Lundequist, Rauno Asplund

Patent number: 6053214Abstract: A continuous method of extruding an oriented plastic article of improved strength. A chemically reactive polymer, monomer or other compound is included in the matrix material(s) and a (multilayer) parison is extruded or melt formed having built-in thermoplastic orientation caused by shear or caused by elongational flow. A reaction can be activated in the molten state thereof by additional heat resulting in a cross-linked structure or at least the mobility of the molecules being reduced, resulting in a longer relaxation time which makes the freezing of permanent orientation possible. The soft matrix can be stretched while still hot in the hoop and/or axial direction. Then, the product thus obtain is calibrated and cooled in an oriented state.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 1998Date of Patent: April 25, 2000Assignee: Uponor BVInventors: Michael Borje Sjoberg, Jan Rolf Rydberg, Nils Yngve Lundequist, Lars Goran Hoving, Hans Martin Tony Josefsson, Stig Lennart Agren, Bjorn Axel Roland Olsson, Jyri Jaakko Jarvenkyla
