  • Publication number: 20200289888
Abstract: A motion-based interface system having a sensor to register physical activity of a user via a movable mechanical member to perform human input events to a computer system through the legs or lower body of a person. The invention allows a person sitting to exercise and enter computer commands at the same time.

  • Patent number: 10373799
Abstract: Probe landing is detected by detecting a change in a vibration of the probe in a plane substantially parallel to the work piece surface as the probe is lowered toward the work piece. The vibration may be observed, for example, by acquiring multiple electron microscope images of the probe as it moves and analyzing the images the determine a characteristic, such as the amplitude of the vibration. When the probe contacts the work piece surface, the friction between the probe tip and the work piece surface will change the characteristic of the vibration, which can be detected to indicate that the probe has landed.

  • Publication number: 20180120128
Abstract: A method and structure are disclosed for simultaneous detection of the relative positions between first and second members of each joint in a multiplicity of joints in a system. In the multiplicity of joints, as the relative positions between the first and second members of a joint change, a position-sensitive vibration source associated with that joint generates a vibration signal with a characteristic frequency spectrum. Vibration signals from the multiplicity of joints combine into a mixed vibration signal. This mixed vibration signal is detected and separated into individual characteristic frequency spectra by a vibration-detecting device to enable simultaneous monitoring of the positions of each of the joints in the multiplicity of j oints. Joints may be rotary, linear, or a combination of joint types.
