  • Patent number: 8467583
Abstract: A computerized method and system for detection and quantification of changes in color on skin or internal tissue or organs within the human body. Digital images of the skin or tissue containing an area of interest are analyzed using the software of the invention, based on at least one channel of the LAB color system. The invention calculates the intensity and distribution of color present within the predetermined area of interest, and results in display of at least one color information attribute. The invention allows color calibration of the image to be performed in relation to a reference label having predetermined colors which surrounds the area of interest, prior to the analysis. The invention allows a threshold analysis to be performed, which graphically depicts the size and location of areas exhibiting significant change in color, which is a determinant factor in medical diagnosis.

  • Patent number: 8423296
Abstract: The invention provides a method for selecting one or more genes from among a predetermined group of genes whose expression level is significantly different among a first group of individuals in a population in comparison with a second group within the population. The first group of individuals may be, a group of individuals suffering from an illness that responded to a predetermined treatment. The second group of individuals may be a group of individuals suffering from the same illness that did not respond to the treatment.

  • Patent number: 8150625
Abstract: A method for classifying a test tissue sample into a class from among K classes, where the test tissue sample has an associated gene expression vector is provided. For each class k from among the K classes, a gene expression matrix is provided based upon a gene expression level in one or more tissue samples known to be in the class k. One or more eigenvectors of the covariance matrix Cx of the centralized gene expression matrix are calculated. A metric ?k that is indicative of the extent of dissimilarity between the gene expression vector and the gene expression matrix is calculated using an algebraic expression involving one or more of the eigenvectors of the matrix Cx. The test tissue sample is then classified into a class k for which the metric ?k is minimum among the k classes.

  • Patent number: 6631204
Abstract: A similarity measurement method for the classification of medical images into predetermined categories. A small set of pre-classified images is required to employ the method. The images can be real world images acquired using a camera, computer tomography, etc., or schematic drawings representing samples of different classes. The use of schematic drawings as a source of images allows a quick test of the method for a particular classification problem. The eigenvectors for each category are mathematically derived, and each image in each category is represented as a weighted linear combination of the eigenvectors. A test image is provided and projected onto the eigenvectors of each of the categories so as to reconstruct the test image with the eigenvectors. The RMS (root-mean-square) distance between the test image and each of the categories is measured.
