  • Publication number: 20210069106
Abstract: The present invention comprises methods and formulations to increase drug payload, especially in regard to a receptacle-based, inhalation dosed, dry powder therapeutic, wherein the methods and formulations are characterized by a high product density, as well as a high TLD per receptacle, while maintaining highly efficient aerosol performance from the device. Embodiments of the present invention comprise a spray-dried pharmaceutical powder comprising particles deliverable from a dry powder inhaler, the composition comprising active agent, and a shell-forming excipient, wherein the powder is characterized by a product density greater than 50 mg/ml.

  • Publication number: 20180303753
Abstract: Disclosed are inhalation formulations of dry powders comprising particles and processes which yield particles to effectively bypass unwanted deposition in the mouth and throat. Embodiments of the invention are characterized by an inertial parameter which provide an in vitro total lung dose of greater than 80% of a nominal dose. Embodiments of formulations include neat formulations containing active agent only; formulations of active agent and buffer; and formulations comprising active agent, a glass-forming, and/or a shell-forming excipient. Also provided are methods for making the dry powder formulations. The powder formulations are useful for the treatment of diseases and conditions especially respiratory diseases and conditions.

  • Patent number: 10105500
Abstract: A dry powder inhaler (DPI) device has a flow passage with a three-dimensional (3D) rod array. The rod array includes multiple rows each having multiple unidirectional rods. The rows are spaced apart along a primary direction of air flow and are staggered. A viewing window to the capsule chamber allows viewing of the capsule's position within the chamber which provides visual feedback of inhalation flow rate to the user during inhalation. The capsule chamber may orient the capsule parallel to a primary direction of air flow or perpendicular to a primary direction of air flow and provide capsule motion in a plane which is perpendicular to the primary direction of air flow.

  • Publication number: 20160317391
Abstract: The invention disclosed herein is a novel media milling process performed in an atmosphere of propellants(s) utilizing a resonant acoustic mixing (RAM) device. The process is utilized to reduce the particle size of API (optionally including excipients) to a respirable size range while ensuring the retention of the crystallinity of the milled API.

  • Patent number: 7511023
Abstract: The present invention relates to an anticancer drug-chitosan complex forming self-aggregates and the preparation method thereof. More precisely, the present invention relates to the anticancer drug-chitosan complex forming self-aggregates in aqueous media composed of a hydrophobic anticancer agent and a hydrophilic chitosan, and the preparation method thereof. The anticancer drug-chitosan complex of the present invention not only works selectively against target tumor tissue but also continues to release the medicine over a long period of time. Besides, the anticancer drug-chitosan complex could have greater amount of drug by adding the anticancer drug into self-aggregates, which is generally limited by chemical bond. Therefore, the anticancer drug-chitosan complex of the present invention can be effectively used for the cancer chemotherapy.
