  • Patent number: 11602339
Abstract: A suture device is utilized in forming a purse string suture during, e.g., laparoscopic end to end anastomosis procedure, to effect joining of two opposing intestinal sections. The suture device is utilized in other procedures such as, e.g., transanal total mesorectal excision (TaTME) for removal of low rectal and ultra-low rectal tumors and preservation of anal sphincters to avoid permanent stomas. In particular, the suture device is utilized in forming surgical stitches used to close an internal anal structure or to narrow a passage for performing further transanal dissection to create total mesorectal excision.

  • Patent number: 11579433
Abstract: An endoscope and lens cleaning device assembly includes a tubular body, a visualization device including a lens, and a lens cleaning device. The visualization device is supported on a distal portion of the tubular body. The lens cleaning device is supported on the distal portion of the tubular body and includes an iris mechanism having a plurality of vanes. The vanes are movable between a first position in which the vanes are positioned radially outwardly of the lens of the visualization device and a second position in which the vanes cover the lens of the visualization device. Each of the vanes has a cleaning surface that is positioned to contact the lens of the visualization device as the vanes move between the first and second positions to clean the lens of the visualization device.

  • Patent number: 11375987
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses and systems are described for administering a swallowable cell collection device to a patient. Methods include releasing a swallowable bundle of string of the cell collection device from a bundling apparatus, maintaining the string in a swallowable bundle while releasing the swallowable bundle from the bundling apparatus, and placing the swallowable bundle on the tongue of the patient. Methods also include constraining a retrieval string of the cell collection device in a swallowable bundle with a dissolvable band and placing the swallowable bundle on the tongue of the patient.

  • Publication number: 20200268283
Abstract: A tissue thickness measuring device includes an elongate member defining a first lumen therethrough, an inner shaft slidably received in the first lumen, a tool assembly, and an actuation rod dimensioned to be received through the inner shaft. In particular, the tool assembly includes a neck portion and first and second jaw members. The neck portion is operatively supported on the inner shaft such that the tool assembly is transitionable between a retracted state and an extended state. The first jaw member is fixedly secured with the neck portion. The second jaw member is movable relative to the first jaw member between an approximated position and a spaced apart position. The actuation rod is configured to be selectively coupled with the second jaw member. Rotation of the actuation rod transitions the second jaw member between the approximated and spaced apart positions.

  • Publication number: 20190216498
Abstract: A seal assembly for use with an access apparatus includes an integral filter and evacuation port for filtering of fluids, e.g., smoke, from an operating site and removing contaminants and/or odor from the fluids for release of the filtered fluids into the ambient atmosphere. The seal assembly may be a separate subassembly or component which is releasably couplable to the access apparatus or may be integral with the access apparatus. The seal assembly defines its own flow path independent of the insufflation mechanism of the cannula assembly, and is capable of filtering fluids even in the presence of a surgical object positioned within the cannula assembly.
