Abstract: A decontamination unit includes a housing having an internal cavity for containing a contaminated object that is to be decontaminated, a heater in thermal communication with the internal cavity and is configured to heat the internal cavity and object, and a humidity generator in fluid communication with the internal cavity and configured to supply humidity to the internal cavity. A controller is configured to control a temperature and a relative humidity within the internal cavity according to a decontamination cycle for decontaminating the object. The decontamination cycle may be preset based on the object(s) and/or type of contaminant. According to one aspect, the decontamination cycle is performed with at least the parameters of a temperature in a range from 170° F. to 200° F., a relative humidity in a range from 50% to 80%, and a time in a range from 15 minutes to 60 minutes.

Abstract: A decontamination unit includes a housing having an internal cavity for containing an object that is to be decontaminated, a heater that is configured to heat the internal cavity and object, and at least one light source configured to supply ultraviolet light, such as UVC, to the internal cavity to irradiate the object. A decontamination cycle may perform the heat cycle and/or the UV cycle, which may be performed simultaneously during at least a part of the cycle to enhance the effectiveness in decontaminating the object.
