    Abstract: A display device includes a display panel, parallax barrier, and a backlight. The parallax barrier includes a liquid crystal layer, a first electrode layer, and a second electrode layer. The first electrode layer is disposed while corresponding to a plurality of pixels, and the first electrode layer includes 2N divided electrode layers divided from each other in a unit region corresponding to one pixel set. A first voltage applied to at least one of the divided electrode layers located at an end of the light shielding part is lower than a second voltage applied to at least one of the divided electrode layers located at a position except for the end of the light shielding part.

    Abstract: A stereoscopic image display device reduces the possibility of an observer visually recognizing emission or dark lines even while being away from a position suitable for visually recognizing stereoscopic images. A parallax barrier shutter panel includes sub-openings switchable between a light transmission state and a light shielding state. A panel controller changes the pattern of integrated openings configured by sub-openings in the light transmission state in accordance with the position of the observer. When the position of the observer is included in a designed stereoscopic region, the panel controller applies cyclic patterns connected by boundaries among which a phase shift exists, to the integrated openings in accordance with the position of the observer. When the position of the observer is no longer included in the designed stereoscopic region, the pattern of the integrated openings is adjusted to cause the boundaries to disappear while maintaining one cycle.

    Abstract: The present invention has an object to provide a video signal control technique capable of suppressing deterioration in display quality of a display device in which FRC is employed. A video signal control method for display device according to the present invention includes: (a) acquiring coordinate information and time information in a display screen of a display device; (b) selecting, with reference to an LUT storing a plurality of FRC parameters, a FRC parameter corresponding to the coordinate information and the time information; and (c) outputting the selected FRC parameter as a FRC parameter for controlling red and blue pixels and a FRC parameter for controlling green pixels opposite in phase to the FRC parameter for controlling red and blue pixels.

    Abstract: A liquid crystal display device is provided. In the liquid crystal display device, a whole face of an alignment layer disposed above a substrate is uniformly subjected to first alignment treatment (uniform treatment) such as rubbing treatment in an a direction. Second alignment treatment is performed in a b direction (second direction) making an angle of about 90 degrees with the a direction and in a c direction (third direction) opposite to the a direction such that regions narrow than regions subjected to the first alignment treatment. This allows micro-regions subjected to alignment treatment in the a, b, and/or c direction to be present at intersections of zones extending in the b or c direction. The micro-regions are located in light-shielding sections.
