Abstract: A remote control system invention converts an infrared ray signal transmitted from an exclusive remote control transmitter of an electronic apparatus into a transmissive data by a signal analyzing/writing device, and writes the transmissive data in a nonvolatile memory, which is subsequently mounted on other remote control transmitter. A microcomputer in the remote control transmitter reads the transmissive data in the nonvolatile memory, and remote controls the electronic apparatus. Adoption of the present system enables a single unit of the remote control transmitter to remote control a plurality of electronic apparatuses by storing in the remote control transmitter transmissive data of different formats for the plurality of electronic apparatuses.

Abstract: A remote control system enables simplified programming of new remote control transmission data of an electronic apparatus which a user wants to remotely control. A plurality of electronic apparatuses are remote controlled by using a single common use remote control transmitter and by converting an infrared signal from an exclusive use remote control transmitter belonging to an electronic apparatus into another remote control transmitter data at a remote control signal analysis/output unit. The data is output as a magnetic signal, the magnetic signal is received, the signal is converted into new remote control transmitter data and the converted data is stored in a nonvolatile memory device.

Abstract: A remote control transmitter has an operating unit having a plurality of operating keys, a storage unit for storing data including bit data, an expansion program, and a common program, a control unit for generating a transmission format based on the expansion program, the common program, and the bit data, and a transmitting unit for transmitting the transmission format as a remote control signal. A transmit/receive system includes the remote control transmitter and an instrument having a remote control receiver for receiving the transmission format, and the remote control transmitter remotely controls the instrument.

Abstract: A remote-control transmitter for use with an electronic apparatus and a method of testing it are provided, which can be minimized in the cost of production and the overall duration of test. The transmitter has a microcomputer 11 to be shifted to a test mode when specific keys are pressed down and to store the opening-closing data of the keys closed after the test mode is initiated. The opening-closing data of the keys are then transferred as a remote-control test signal to a transmission circuit at once.
