  • Patent number: 5701851
Abstract: In a spark-ignition two-cycle engine, the inlet end of a cylinder cooling water passage is connected to the discharge port of a cooling water pump by a cooling water pipe. The inlet end of a cylinder head cooling water passage is connected to the discharge port of a cooling water pump by a cooling water pipe. The outlet end of the cylinder cooling water passage is connected through a thermostat to the upper end of a cylinder cooling radiator, and the outlet end of the cylinder head cooling water passage is connected through a three-way valve to the upper end of a cylinder head cooling radiator and a pipe fitting. Upon the increase of the temperature of the cooling water for cooling the cylinder head to a predetermined temperature, a CPU provides a control signal to a servomotor to close a port of the three-way valve connected to the pipe fitting and to open a port of the three-way valve connected to the cylinder head cooling radiator.

  • Patent number: 5599253
Abstract: A deceleration control apparatus is provided which can control a two-cycle engine of the spark ignition type for a vehicle, in which fresh air in a combustion chamber can be self-ignited at an ignition timing preferable for operation of the engine at least upon low load operation, so that, when engine sudden deceleration requirements are satisfied, the combustion condition is automatically changed over from an activated heat atmosphere combustion condition to an ordinary combustion condition to allow sudden deceleration of the engine.

  • Patent number: 5507263
Abstract: A combustion controller for an internal combustion spark ignition type two-cycle engine includes exhaust passage opening ratio adjusting means for adjusting an exhaust passage opening ratio, wherein the exhaust passage opening ratio adjusting means is driven to adjust the exhaust passage opening ratio at a value corresponding to an engine speed and a throttle valve opening ratio at least in a low load operational area. And fresh mixture in a combustion engine is self-fired with a firing timing desirable for operation of the engine. In this engine, the combustion controller includes ignition timing adjusting means for adjusting an ignition timing; abnormal combustion detecting means for detecting abnormal combustion in the combustion chamber; and control means for controlling the exhaust passage opening ratio. The ignition timing at respective values eliminates the abnormal combustion on the basis of the detection signal from the abnormal combustion detecting means.

  • Patent number: 5495836
Abstract: A throttle-valve control apparatus is provided for allowing switching from an ordinary-combustion state to an AR-combustion state or vice versa to take place with ease in an AR-combustible spark-ignition two-cycle engine wherein, at least during a light-load operation, a compression-start pressure is properly controlled in order to let fresh air in a combustion chamber self-ignite so as to undergo active thermal atmosphere combustion. A throttle drum is linked to a throttle grip through a wire. The throttle drum is also linked to a throttle valve through a linking mechanism. An arm forms a single body with the throttle drum. An adjustment screw is fixed at the end of the arm. A cam is supported at such a location that the cam can be brought into contact with the adjustment screw. A pulley forms a single body with the cam. A cable which is wound around the pulley is linked to a throttle-valve servo motor.
