Abstract: An image forming apparatus capable of making copies under either predetermined standard copy conditions or copy conditions optionally set by an operator. After the final key input, or at the completion of a copying process, a first timer is set to count a predetermined time period. When the first timer finishes counting, the copy conditions are automatically set to the standard conditions. The above apparatus is provided with a guidance mode for the purpose of explaining the method for setting the functions and copy conditions within the apparatus to an inexperienced operator. In the case where the guidance mode is set by the operator, a second timer is set to count a predetermined time period longer than the time period counted by the first timer. When the second timer finishes counting, the copy conditions are automatically set to the standard conditions.

Abstract: A plurality of double-faced originals in a series of pages are stacked on a tray with a first page faced upward. An original transport mechanism is arranged to transport a first sheet of original fed by a feed roller to an exposure position through an intermediate waiting position on a platen glass for image exposure of a first page. Then, the original transport mechanism forwards the first sheet of original to a reverse/discharge roller provided downstream side of a transport belt to invert the surface and reverse side of the original. Thereafter, the original is returned to the intermediate waiting position by the transport belt.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus according to the invention includes a document transporting device for transporting a plurality of documents set on a tray one by one to a platen, copying mode selecting keys for selecting a first copying mode for forming images from the plurality of documents under first copying conditions and a second copying mode for forming an image from a particular one of the documents under second copying conditions, and a control device for executing the image forming operation under the copying conditions of the copy mode selected by the copy mode selecting key.

Abstract: An image duplicating apparatus of the type having an IC-card controlled mode of operation in which are to be established standard conditions for copying operation when predetermined initial requirements are satisfied in the absence of an IC card set in the apparatus, and IC-card optional conditions for copying operation when the predetermined requirements are satisfied in the presence of an IC card set in the apparatus. The apparatus includes a control for selecting duplicating conditions within the apparatus and a memory for storing data representative of the selected duplicating conditions in responses to a first state in which the IC-card is not set in the apparatus, and for storing data fetched from the IC-card in response to a second state when the IC-card is set in the apparatus. The control is responsive to transition from one state to the other for establishing either the standard conditions or the optional conditions for a copying operation.

Abstract: A copying apparatus copies an image of each original document either in a one-side copy mode or a both-side copy mode during a cover copy mode. The copying apparatus is capable of selectively supplying colored copy sheets for a cover page and ordinary white copy sheets for the other pages. A controller controls the copying apparatus such that the image of one cover page is copied on one side of a colored copy sheet, the image of each table of contents is copied on one side of a white copy sheet, and the image of each of the other content pages is copied on both sides of a white copy sheet.

Abstract: A copying apparatus in which an operation mode defined by items such as the number of copies and copying magnification registered on an IC card can be changed by loading the IC card in the copying apparatus. A device in the apparatus prohibits change of the operation mode until the termination of a copying operation, when the IC card is inserted during the copying operation. Since the operation mode registered on the IC card is attached to the copying apparatus after the termination of the copying operation, no copying is performed in a mode that an operator does not desire.

The document feed device is movable between an opened and a closed position, and is operable to automatically convey documents to a document support table of an image forming device, and to automatically discharge documents from the document support table after images from the documents have been copied by the image forming device. An automatic document discharge prohibit instruction is produced by a control arrangement of the apparatus when a document is manually placed on the document support table, however a document discharge instruction may be manually entered to override the prohibit instruction, if desired by an operator of the apparatus.

Abstract: A present sheet transporting apparatus for use in a copier measures the time for the sheets to travel a specific distance and corrects a period of time counted by a paper jam detecting timer.
