  • Patent number: 8724477
Abstract: A terminal includes a wireless transmission and reception unit that transmits or receives a signal using a frequency channel selected by switching between a plurality of frequency channels, and an interference detection unit that determines, for each of the plurality of frequency channels, whether or not interference occurs when transmitting or receiving the signal using the frequency channel. Further, the terminal includes a frequency channel priority control unit that sets a priority used when the wireless transmission and reception unit transmits or receives the signal, according to a result of the determination by the interference detection unit. The wireless transmission and reception unit transmits or receives the signal according to the priority.

  • Patent number: 8654656
Abstract: A communication device includes a transmission path state determination unit; a communication unit and a topology determination unit configured to classify a destination device into a first group when a detected transmission path characteristic satisfies a criteria, and to classify a destination device into a second group when the detected transmission path characteristic does not satisfy the criteria. Additionally, a frequency band control unit is configured to select a first frequency band and a second frequency band higher than the first frequency band based on whether the destination device is classified into the first group, or into the second group, the first and second frequency bands being obtained by dividing an entire frequency band.

  • Patent number: 8359061
Abstract: A wireless communication system includes a wireless terminal and a plurality of base stations that can communicate with each other via a predetermined communication path that is different from the wireless communication path to the wireless terminal. The wireless terminal transmits a request signal to one of the base stations to request a response signal from another base station. The one base station transfers the received request signal to the other base station via the predetermined communication path. Upon reception of the request signal transferred from the one base station, the second base station transmits a response signal to the wireless terminal via the predetermined channel. The wireless terminal receives the response signal transmitted from the second base station via the predetermined channel.

  • Publication number: 20120076050
Abstract: In a power line communication system, a control device sets an intra-breaker communication period during which communication is performed between communication terminals connected to a single breaker, and an inter-breaker communication priority period during which communication is performed between communication terminals connected to different breakers from each other. The control device operates filters so that the filters allow signals that travel via breakers to pass through the filters during the inter-breaker communication priority period, and so that the filters block signals that travel via breakers from passing through the filters during the intra-breaker communication period.

  • Publication number: 20060171460
Abstract: A rate conversion apparatus 10 includes a quantization parameter setting unit 107 and a rounding threshold value setting unit 108. The quantization parameter setting unit 107 determines a quantization parameter change amount according to a code amount of encoded data output from a variable length encoding unit 109 and a target code amount. The quantization parameter setting unit 107 adds a first quantization amount used in an image before conversion to the quantization parameter change amount, to generate a second quantization parameter to be used in re-quantization processing in a quantization unit 105. The rounding threshold value setting unit 108 sets the rounding threshold value according to the quantization parameter change amount. The quantization unit 105 performs re-quantization using the second quantization parameter and the rounding threshold value.

  • Patent number: 5714729
Abstract: A TIG welding method is usually carried out in a manner that a tungsten electrode is inserted into a weld groove portion of a member to be welded, an electric voltage is applied to a current conducting portion provided for the tungsten electrode while flowing a shield gas means to thereby generate an arc between the tungsten electrode and the member to be welded to form a molten pool of the member, a welding wire is inserted into the molten pool, and a welding torch is then operated to perform a welding process. In the improvement of the TIG welding method, the shield gas means is composed of an inner shield gas flowing from a periphery of the tungsten electrode to a front end thereof inserted into the weld groove portion of the member to be welded and an outer shield gas flowing towards the weld groove angle from an outside of the inner shield gas to prevent the molten pool from being oxidized and to prevent oxygen in air from being involved.
