  • Publication number: 20090293077
Abstract: An optical disk device in which the thickness of the device is not increased, and interference between the bottom surface of an optical pickup unit (OPU) and a bottom case of the device is prevented upon emergency ejection of an optical disk without moving the optical pickup unit to an outermost peripheral position of the disk in the event of abnormality such as power shutdown during an operation in the optical disk device. A support mechanism having a coil spring is provided at shaft-holders in three of four positions of a guide main shaft and a guide sub shaft to support an OPU, to perform skew adjustment. In another position, a support mechanism having a plate spring is provided such that, upon emergency ejection, the interference between the bottom surface of the OPU and the bottom case is mitigated.

  • Publication number: 20070283370
Abstract: A flexible printed-wiring circuit board that connects a signal-processing circuit board and a pickup is prevented from coming into contact with the bottom (or the like) of a tray and thus becoming damaged. The flexible printed-wiring circuit board (FPC board) is disposed in a U-shaped folded state in a space sandwiched between a surface along which the tray moves, and a surface on which the signal-processing circuit board is mounted. An extension portion that restricts deformation of the FPC board toward the tray is provided at a connecting end of the pickup. Length D of the extension portion is set such that length S of the FPC board from a front end of the extension portion to a fold-back position of the FPC board is equal to or less than a required value.

  • Publication number: 20070150909
Abstract: In a disc drive for achieving cooling of an electronic part therein, as well as, suppressing transmission of noises generated from a disc clamper, etc., a channel member 18 for introducing an outside air into an inside is disposed between a supporting member 15 and a top-cover 10, within an inside thereof is formed a vortex-like channel, extending from a center to an outer periphery thereof. At the center of the channel member 18 is formed an opening 19 for introducing the outside air into the inside of the disc drive, and on the top-cover 10 are provided plural numbers of openings 20 for taking the outside air into the channel member 18. When an optical disc 6 rotates, pressure generated on an upper surface thereof comes to be negative to the outside air, then the outside air is taken from the openings 20, through the vortex-like channel of the channel member 18 and the opening 19, into the inside of the drive, so as to pass through electronic parts, such as, an optical pickup, etc., thereby cooling them.

  • Patent number: 7191457
Abstract: Guide members for guiding an optical pickup for movement in directions parallel to a diameter of an optical disk relative to the optical disk are formed of a metal, support members supporting the guide members on a chassis are formed of a resin, and heat transfer members formed of a metal are set in contact with the guide members and the chassis to achieve both the dissipation of heat generated by the optical pickup and the isolation of the optical pickup from vibrations. The guide support members attenuate vibrations propagating from the chassis toward the optical pickup, and heat generated by the optical pickup is dissipated through the heat transfer members into the chassis.

  • Publication number: 20060212890
Abstract: In an optical disk apparatus, a rack member includes: a first section formed with a protrusion-shaped engaging portion which engages with the feed screw of a lead screw member; a second section coupled with the base side of an optical pickup; and a third section integrally coupled with the first section and the second section, between both of these sections, and supporting the first section in a double-end-supporting state with respect to the second section, in a plane such as a rotational plane of the lead screw member. This construction enables smooth movement of the rack member in an optical pickup feed mechanism.
