  • Patent number: 5363354
Abstract: A CD player having an improved level search function is disclosed. In a level search, the judgment whether or not an optical pickup can land again on the same song is done before the jump of the pickup. When it is judged that the pickup can land on the same song, the pickup jumps a predetermined number of tracks which is determined for each of selected songs depending upon the playing time of each song. When it is judged that the pickup cannot land on the same song, the pickup jumps to the beginning of the next programmed song so that unwilling playback of non-programmed songs can be avoided. In another CD player, it is successively judged whether or not the pickup can land again on the same song in level search, based on the playing time of the song, the elapsed playing time and the playing time corresponding a predetermined number of tracks to be skipped. If the pickup can land on the same song, then the predetermined number of tracks are skipped.

  • Patent number: 5311492
Abstract: When dubbing information from a first recording medium to a second recording medium, control information including a start ID is recorded at appropriate timing. For example, when the fourth music selection recorded on a CD is reproduced for recording on a magnetic tape, the reproducing operation is started at a position (4, 00, 36) (represented by data TNC, INDEX, and FRAME) preceding the start position (4, 01, 46) of the fourth music. When a position (4, 00, 40) is detected, a record directing signal for directing the recording of the start ID is output to a digital magnetic tape recorder selection. This ensures the recording of the start ID prior to the recording on the magnetic tape of the start position of the fourth music selection.

  • Patent number: 5233588
Abstract: A disk reproduction apparatus having pause time setting device for setting a determined pause time upon receiving an instruction for successive reproduction; automatic pause setting device for setting the apparatus in pause during the pause time and releasing the apparatus from the pause after the pause time has passed; and search device for searching the next music program to be reproduced by moving an optical pickup, wherein the pause time is set to coincide with a time interval between an end of a current music program and a beginning of the next music program to be reproduced, independently of any recorded positions of the music program without making a configuration of the apparatus complex. Thus, when performing a random reproduction of the music programs, listeners can enjoy a natural flow of the successively reproduced music programs like when reproduction is performed of the music programs in order from an inner portion toward an outer portion.
