  • Patent number: 5516374
Abstract: A method for manufacturing an aluminum alloy sheet for use in a body panel material, comprising: (a) casting a melted aluminum alloy containing Al, Mg, Fe, Mn, Cr, Ti and Zr, having a Mg content of 4 to 10 weight %, and having contents of Fe, Mn, Cr, Ti and Zr which are determined by a value f satisfying the following equation (I), and the balance being Al: 0.4 wt %.ltoreq.f.ltoreq.1.5 wt % (I), wherein, f=(Fe)+1.1 (Mn)+1.1 (Cr)+3 (Ti)+3 (Zr), wherein (Fe), (Mn), (Cr), (Ti), and (Zr) respectively represent the percentage content by weight of Fe, Mn, Cr, Ti and Zr, to form an ingot; (b) hot rolling the ingot to obtain a hot rolled sheet; (c) cold rolling the hot rolled sheet at a cold reduction R satisfying the following equation (II): -log(f-0.2)+8.ltoreq.R.ltoreq.-60 log (f-0.2)+50 (II) to obtain a cold rolled sheet; (d) subjecting the cold rolled sheet to a final annealing treatment including raising the temperature of the rolled sheet to 450.degree. to 550.degree. C. at a rate of 100.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 5486243
Abstract: A method including preparing an aluminum scrap containing a total of about 0.3 to 2.0 wt % of Fe and Si; melting and then adjusting the material composition so as to attain an Mg content of about 3 to 10 wt % or a composition further containing at least one of the elements Cu, Mn, Cr, Zr and Ti, each in the amount of 0.02 to 0.5 wt %; subjecting the material to casting, hot rolling, cold rolling and continuous annealing to obtain an aluminum alloy sheet having a tensile strength of about 31 kgf/mm.sup.2 or more; and applying a lubricant surface coating to impart a coefficient of friction of not more than about 0.11.

  • Patent number: 5423925
Abstract: A process for producing high Mg content Al-Mg alloy sheet for press forming having a high tensile strength and formability. The maximum grain diameter of the alloy slab is less than 1000 .mu.m. The process consists of the steps of forming the slab, homogenizing, hot rolling, cold rolling and annealing. The composition of the alloy is disclosed as having the elements of Al, Mg, Be, B, Cu, Ti, Si as major components, the balance being inevitable impurities.

  • Patent number: 4906534
Abstract: Aluminum thin plates which are used as fins of a heat exchanger can be manufactured, as described in the claims, by controlling the composition of an aluminum alloy, which is used as a core material, and controlling the cold rolling reduction ratio of a clad material composed of the core material and a skin material, after hot rolling. The thus manufactured aluminum thin plates for brazing are excellent in high-temperature sagging resistance and sacrificial anodic effect, whereby it is possible to make the fins thinner.
