    Abstract: An image processing device includes: an image reception unit for receiving an input image; an image generation unit for generating an image for extracting a feature from the input image; a feature extraction unit for extracting a feature from the generation image generated by the image generation unit; an identification unit for identifying an object in the image using the feature output from the feature extraction unit; an output unit for outputting an identification result output from the identification unit; and a feature map generation unit for instructing the image generation unit generating a new generation image based on the feature output from the feature extraction unit, and generating a feature map indicating a feature extraction condition for the new generation image and output the generated feature map to the feature extraction unit. With this configuration, a target object in the image is identified quickly and accurately.

    Abstract: An electric motor-assisted bicycle includes a vehicle speed sensor to detect a vehicle speed, a torque sensor to detect a pedal force on a pedal connected to a crankshaft, a motor to generate an assist force that assists the pedal force, a motor controller to control the assist force by the motor depending on the pedal force and the vehicle speed, a threshold determiner to determine an unauthorized alteration determination threshold depending on the vehicle speed, and an unauthorized alteration detector to determine whether an unauthorized alteration has been made to the vehicle speed sensor or the torque sensor by comparing a running output and the unauthorized alteration determination threshold, wherein the running output is the sum of the assist force by the motor and the pedal force. If an unauthorized alteration has been made, a predetermined control is performed to address the unauthorized alteration.

The controller includes an initial target calculator to calculate target power without using the output signal of the vehicle speed sensor in a prescribed period from start of walking, when a walk command is received, and a target calculator to calculate a target power based on the vehicle speed calculated by the vehicle speed calculator after a lapse of the prescribed period.

The controller performs the mode change when a pedal is located between an angular position that follows by 45 degrees a lowermost position of a locus of the pedal and an angular position that precedes by 45 degrees the lowermost position. Accordingly, the mode change is performed when the pedaling force exerted by a rider is relatively low such that the rider does not feel uncomfortable due to a rapid change of the load applied to the rider.
