Abstract: Total power consumption of information-processing devices and power supply/cooling facilities is reduced to realize energy saving operation of information-processing system. The information-processing system includes information-processing devices, power supply facilities, cooling facilities and an operations management device. The operations management device is connected to the devices and the facilities and includes layout information constituted of locations and operating information of the devices and locations and environmental information of the facilities. Also, the operations management device obtains the power consumption of the devices, the power supply loss of the power supply facilities and the cooling power of the cooling facilities by using the layout information, and then allocates the workloads to the devices so as to reduce the total sum of power consumption, supply loss and cooling power.

Abstract: Reconfiguration plans that cope with various events are produced for a computer system. An administration system for computers and an administration method for computers in accordance with the present invention have a constitution described below. A server system includes plural servers, and a management server that administers the server system is connected to the server system. The management server monitors an event occurring in the server system, produces reconfiguration plans for the server system on the basis of priorities assigned to the plural servers and/or application programs according to the monitored event, selects a reconfiguration plan from the reconfiguration plans under predetermined criteria for selection, and reconfigures the server system according to the selected reconfiguration plan.

Abstract: A first computer stores a correspondence between a virtual channel and a physical channel(s) in physical channel information and transmits the correspondence between the virtual channel and the physical channel(s) to a second computer having a virtual network interface to which a data transmission instruction is addressed. Upon receiving the correspondence between the virtual channel and the physical channel(s), the second computer stores the received correspondence in the physical channel information. The first computer transmits data in accordance with the data transmission instruction, using one or more physical channels associated with the virtual channel, based on the correspondence stored.
