  • Publication number: 20240068994
Abstract: A device and method for real-time measurement using acoustic wave sensors, without the measurement being altered by environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, flow or pressure, and without requiring the use of external gauges. The proposed method and device improve the stability and detection limit of quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) sensors. The method and device are based on the high degree of correlation between acoustic resonators integrated into a single piezoelectric substrate. The use of a reference sample to correct the instability of the baseline is not required. The method and device are intended for the industrial sector of the production of measuring devices based on quartz crystals.

  • Publication number: 20230296565
Abstract: A method and device for characterizing the response of resonant sensors. The method is based on an analytic algorithm that establishes a relationship between the complex admittance G of the sensor, measured at a single test frequency, the variations in resonance frequency and the losses, such as the quality factor at the acoustic resonator. The device includes at least one piezoelectric resonator on whose surface is deposited a thin layer of material, a fluid medium in contact therewith, a stable signal source, a frequency synthesis subsystem, a multiplex subsystem that enables the excitation/interrogation of a particular resonator, a signal conditioning and acquisition subsystem, a control subsystem based on the use of digital integrated circuits enabling the coordinated control of the different subsystems that make up the device.

  • Publication number: 20200025601
Abstract: The invention relates to a cell for measuring a piezoelectric resonator, which has a first casing body and a second casing body, and a quartz resonator configured as a wafer having metal layers on both sides as electric contact surfaces, the first casing body having coupling features and the second casing body having coupling slots, the coupling features being configured to be assembled in the coupling slots when the measuring cell is in a working position, such that the first casing body is assembled in the second casing body when pressure is exerted on the first casing body until the surface of the lower end of the first body makes physical contact with the upper surface of the second casing body and, subsequently, the first casing body is rotated to one side of the axis of symmetry of the measuring cell.

  • Patent number: 8869617
Abstract: The invention relates to a method, to a device for electronic characterization, and to a measurement cell and support for monitoring a chemical or physical process with results that can be assessed in terms of the weight variation of a coating deposited on a piezoelectric sensor, exposed to a fluid medium with stable physical properties. The invention uses the deduction of an analytic expression establishing a simple connection between the phase variation of a fixed-frequency signal, which queries the piezoelectric resonator, and the variation in the bulk density of the coating. The invention is suitable for implementations that use piezoelectric resonators for characterizing biochemical and electrochemical processes, such as, inter alia: piezoelectric biosensors and immunosensors, process and material characterization by AC electrogravimetry, detection of dissolved chemical or biological substances.
