  • Patent number: 10990316
Abstract: An illustrative embodiment disclosed herein is an apparatus including a processor having programmed instructions that write data having mixed deletion characteristics sequentially to a plurality of data entries of a first physical erase block (PEB) in intermediate storage. The data having the mixed deletion characteristics includes first data having a first deletion characteristic. The processor has programmed instructions that maintain metadata in a plurality of metadata entries in a log. The metadata corresponds to the data having the mixed deletion characteristics. The processor has programmed instructions that identify, using the log, the first data having the first deletion characteristic and evacuate the first data having the first deletion characteristic to a second PEB in main memory.

  • Patent number: 9092597
Abstract: A storage device and method for using a virtual file in a public memory area to access a plurality of protected files in a private memory area are disclosed. In one embodiment, a storage device receives a request from a host for access to a virtual file in the public memory area, wherein the virtual file is associated with a plurality of protected files stored in the private memory area. The storage device responds to the request by selecting and providing the host with access to one of the plurality of protected files stored in the private memory area. The storage device receives an additional request from the host for access to the virtual file and responds to the additional request by selecting and providing the host with access to a different one of the plurality of protected files stored in the private memory area.

  • Patent number: 8838984
Abstract: A method for data integrity protection includes receiving items of data for storage in a storage medium. The items are grouped into multiple groups, such that at least some of the groups include respective pluralities of the items. A respective group signature is computed over each of the groups, thereby generating multiple group signatures. An upper-level signature is computed over the group signatures. Groups of the items, the group signatures, and the upper-level signature are stored in respective locations in the storage medium.

  • Patent number: 8595426
Abstract: In a particular embodiment, a storage device with a memory, a controller, and a host interface has a write-once read-many device configuration. The memory contains a database having entries, each entry for a logical memory address. The memory further contains information for converting each logical memory address to a redirected logical memory address that corresponds to a physical memory location. The controller receives a command specifying a logical memory address and interprets the command based on information extracted from the database. The controller executes the command according to the information.

  • Patent number: 8392714
Abstract: A method for protection of data includes maintaining a control parameter indicative of a current version of the data. The data is partitioned into multiple segments. Respective signatures of the segments are computed, responsively to the control parameter, the segments and respective signatures forming respective signed input segments, which are stored in a memory. After the signed input segments are stored, a signed output segment is fetched from the memory. The signature of the signed output segment is verified responsively to the control parameter, and the data in the signed output segment is processed responsively to verifying the signature.

  • Publication number: 20120260022
Abstract: A storage device with a memory, a controller, and a host interface, and a method of handling commands in a storage device are provided to execute commands in a storage device having a write-once read-many device configuration, transparently to a host device. The memory containing a database having entries each entry for a logical memory address and containing information for converting that logical memory address to a redirected logical memory address that represents a memory location where data associated with that logical memory address actually resides. The controller performs, when the host interface is operatively coupled to a host device, to receive a command specifying a logical memory address and interpret the command based on information extracted from the database. The controller executes the command according to the information, transparently to the host device.

  • Publication number: 20120124386
Abstract: A method and system for refreshing content in a storage device are disclosed. In one embodiment, a content replication system authenticates to each of a plurality of storage devices in parallel without creating a unique secure channel with each respective storage device. After authenticating to each of the plurality of storage devices, the content replication system is permitted to write content to, but not read content from, each of the plurality of storage devices. The content replication system then writes content to each of the plurality of storage devices in parallel.
