Abstract: A health monitoring method and system is disclosed. A sensor for use in a health monitoring system includes a first transducer for collecting biometric data for biometrically identifying an individual, a second transducer for measuring at least one physiological parameter and outputting data indicative thereof, and an output for outputting the data. In addition, a health monitoring system includes a server comprising a data processor and a memory, and one or more of the sensors, wherein the server is arranged to receive the data from the one or more sensors, to process the data associated with the respective individual from which the data was collected, and to output at least one result of the processing of the data.

Abstract: A method and apparatus of a power save mode in a wireless local area network is disclosed. A station transmits a power save mode (PSM) request frame including a wakeup schedule for the PSM to the peer station via an access point (AP) or via a Tunneled Direct link Setup (TDLS) direct link. The station receives a PSM response frame in response to to the PSM request frame from the peer station via the TDLS direct link.

An interaction method for an electronic device according to the present invention includes outputting an event object in response to an input action to an event element; detecting a user interaction to the event object; and outputting an effect object in response to the user interaction.

Abstract: A biometric register includes: a feature extraction unit for performing preprocessing for a fingerprint to extract a feature point m for the fingerprint; a transformation function generation unit for generating a transformation function which is composed of an arbitrary rotation matrix and an arbitrary vector; and a template generation unit for transforming a coordinate of the feature point m using the generated transformation function, and organizing a fuzzy vault using a randomly generated fake feature point and a feature point m1 applied by the transformed coordinate, thereby generating a one-time template.

Abstract: Disclosed are user equipment and a base station in a carrier aggregation system, and a call admission method thereof. The user equipment includes a plurality of physical layers, and the base station provides multiple component carriers. When messages for connection setup are transmitted and received between the user equipment and base station, the messages include information about what component carriers are selected by the physical layers, information about what component carriers are selectable by the physical layers, and information about calculations for uplink timing alignment, and call admission control and load balancing is performed based on the information included in the messages. Accordingly, in the carrier aggregation system, quicker call admission and load balancing are achieved.

Abstract: A nondestructive inspection method of testing insulators using frequency resonance function that can inspect an anomaly of an insulator by vibrating the insulator with a force having the characteristic of white noise, measuring the change in motion of the insulator according to the vibration and calculating the frequency resonance function of the insulator is disclosed.

Abstract: The present disclosure includes systems and techniques relating to wireless communications. A described system, for example, includes a device configured to transmit signals, in a frequency band, to the wireless communication devices. The signals can include spatially steered first signals that concurrently provide data to the wireless communication devices. The signals can include one or more second signals to the wireless communication devices to control transmission of responses from the wireless communication devices in the frequency band. The device can monitor for the responses in the frequency band. The device can control, based on a lack of reception of an expected response, a transmission of a third signal in the frequency band to prevent a transmission from another wireless communication device different than the wireless communication devices. The third signal can include information to reschedule a transmission of a response from a wireless communication device.

The method further comprises replacing the received first data sequence with a replacement sequence upon determining that the received first data sequence matches one of the “m” predefined sequences, and outputting the replacement sequence from the memory system. The replacement sequence typically comprises pattern bits indicating a pattern of the first data sequence and location bits indicating a start location of the first data sequence.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an oil-free turbocharger assembly using an airfoil bearing that may be useful in high speed conditions. The assembly can be cooled easily. A heat-proof coating can also be easily applied to the turbo charger's rotating shaft. In one embodiment, an oil-free turbocharger assembly has a constant distance between a journal portion and a rotating shaft so that the mass of the rotating body can be minimized and the rotating body assembly can have a small moment of inertia. The turbocharger in some embodiments of the invention may be cooled by a refrigerant which improves cooling efficiency. Each part of the rotating body assembly in some embodiments may be individually treated with a heat-proof process so that productivity can be improved.

The plurality of carbon nanotubes are joined end to end by van der Waals attractive force therebetween. The carbon nanotube film has a uniform width. The carbon nanotube film has substantially the same density of the carbon nanotubes along a second direction perpendicular to the first direction. The change in density across the width is within 10 percent. The present application also relates to a carbon nanotube film precursor and a method for making the carbon nanotube film.

Abstract: Provided is a method and apparatus for avoiding a collision of a preamble in a base station. When a new base station is installed in a mobile communication system and in this instance, an exclusive preamble using a contention-free scheme is employed to avoid a preamble collision, at least one of a code parameter, a time parameter, and a frequency parameter used in a preamble of the new base station may be set to be different from a code parameter, a time parameter, and a frequency parameter used in a preamble of a neighboring cell, whereby it is possible to manage a random access preamble without causing a collision between cells.
