    Abstract: A playback positioning method and apparatus are provided. A determination is made as to whether a position selection mode is activated and a music file is selected from a music files list if the position selection mode is activated. The music file is partitioned into a plurality of segments which have identical percentages. The segments are mapped to reference keys, respectively and a progress status of the music file is displayed. Playback is positioned at a segment corresponding to the key input, while the music file is played. The quick selection of a playback position regardless of the length of the MP3 file is facilitated.
