Abstract: A flow of air from an air discharge passage has its direction of flow controlled by a series of louvers arranged to swing horizontally back and forth. Each louver has a hinge pin rotatably supported to form an axis of rotation. A connecting member interconnects a plurality of the hinge pins to transmit rotational movement between those hinge pins. The connecting member is attached to each hinge pin by a flexible connection enabling the hinge pin to rotate relative to the connecting member. The connecting member is disposed within a member which shields the connecting member from the air flow.

Abstract: An outdoor air conditioning unit includes a housing comprised of front and rear vertical walls, two side vertical walls, and top and bottom walls. A partition wall extends across an interior space formed by the housing to divide the space into upper and lower portions. Disposed in the upper portion are a motor-driven fan and a heat exchanger, and disposed in the lower portion is a compressor. The fan is mounted on the front wall behind an air outlet opening formed therein. The heat exchanger is generally U-shaped, formed by a rear portion and two side portions. The rear portion is disposed opposite an air inlet opening formed in the housing rear wall, and the side portions are disposed opposite openings formed in respective housing side walls. A top side of the partition wall forms a condensate collection pan. The lower portion of the compressor is surrounded by sound absorbing material disposed in a space formed between two upright portions of the partition wall.

Abstract: A separable air conditioner includes a blow fan for intaking and discharging room air, a heat-exchanger for cooling intaking air and an air exhaust and water drain apparatus mounted below but adjacent to the heat-exchanger to force the fan to blow air across its lower portion. The air exhaust and water drain apparatus includes a pan assembly extending overall width of the heat-exchanger for collecting condensing water from the heat-exchanger.
