Abstract: A television receiver includes a single tuner for tuning both television channels and broadcast FM stations. The tuner serves as the first conversion stage of a double conversion FM receiver, a separate mixer-oscillator converts the FM radio sound IF to 4.5 MHz for processing in the television receiver's sound channel. A single discriminator circuit is employed for tuning FM radio signals having a first deviation, such as broadcast FM radio signals, and FM signals having a second deviation (i.e., the television sound signals), and FM radio signals having a third deviation, such as signals of the National Weather Service.

Abstract: Apparatus for diluting and activating polymer molecules includes primary polymer dilution and activation apparatus, secondary dilution apparatus, and apparatus for diverting a desired amount of dilution water around the primary dilution and activation apparatus to the secondary dilution apparatus. The primary dilution and activation apparatus includes a cylindrical first processing zone in which the polymer and dilution water are initially mixed. The first processing zone subjects the polymer molecules to relatively high shear conditions for a relatively short period of time, after which the solution passes into a second cylindrical or annular processing zone in which the solution is subjected to continuously decreasing shear forces over a longer period of time. When the solution leaves the primary activation apparatus, it flows into the secondary activation apparatus, which is a static mixer.

Abstract: The synthesis of 1-(tetrahydro-2-furyl) pyrimidine derivatives in good yields by the reaction of trimethylsilylated pyrimidine bases with 2-acetoxytetrahydrofuran using a catalytic amount of cesium chloride in acetonitrile under mild conditions is described.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing loom beams for woven fabrics comprising the step of preparing a dividable warper beam which has the form of dividing a conventional single large warper beam into a plurality of divisional warper beams each having a uniform or non-uniform width and the step of using properly these beams together with the single large warper beams to utilize the maximum content of creel at a sizing or warping machine so that the generation of residual yarns can be minimized.
