  • Publication number: 20090279230
Abstract: A method is provided of manufacturing an electrode for an electric double layer capacitor, including mixing an active material, a conductive material and a binder. In this method, Ketjen Black is used as the conductive material and a fluorosurfactant is an additive for enhancing fluidity of the slurry. Also, an electrode for an electric double layer capacitor and an electric double layer capacitor using the electrode are provided. Use of the electric double layer capacitor increases the amount of the active material, so that the electrical capacitance is increased, thus providing the electric double layer capacitor in which the amount of the conductive material is decreased and the electrical resistance is decreased.

  • Patent number: 7235327
Abstract: In a safety vent part and an electric energy storage device having the same, the safety vent part includes a plate coupled to the device, a metal sheet and a metal cap. A hole having a step portion is formed through the plate, and is in communication with an interior of the device. The metal cap having an exhaust nozzle corresponding the hole is coupled into the step portion by a tight fit. The metal sheet is disposed between a bottom surface of the step portion and the metal cap. When an internal pressure of the device is higher than a predetermined breaking pressure, the internal pressure of the device breaks the metal sheet. A gas generated abnormally in the device is exhausted through the hole and exhaust nozzle.

  • Patent number: 6743544
Abstract: An electric energy storage device for reducing electric resistance between the anode/cathode electrodes and their terminals is disclosed. In the electric energy storage device, an anode electrode and a cathode electrode are stacked to have offset areas with predetermined margins and an insulating film is inserted therebetween. And, the stacked electrodes between which the insulating film is inserted is rolled up so as to form an electrode body. A plate type anode terminal and a plate type cathode terminal which have the thread-like unevenness at their bottoms are connected to a top and bottom of the rolled electrode body respectively. A metal layer is formed on both contact areas of the anode and cathode electrodes by plasma or arc spray.

  • Patent number: 6627343
Abstract: Disclosed is an electric energy storage device having a large capacity and includes a thin active material layer and a plurality of integrated electrodes. The electric energy storage device comprises at least one electrode group in which a cathode, a separator and an anode are in regular sequence, repeatedly integrated and wound into a plate shape. The electrode group has lead lines collected at a predetermined place for a connection with a terminal. Since the cathode and anode are wound with the insertion of the separator between them, the increase of the number of the lead lines is advantageous. In addition, the lead lines can be preferably formed by cutting each portion of the electrode at once by utilizing an apparatus such as a press, the manufacture of the electric energy storage device having a large capacity is advantageous.
