    Abstract: A method of providing a mobile station with communication services through base station cooperation in a communication system. The method includes the steps of: receiving signals from two or more base stations; measuring a strength of each of the received signals; estimating an expected transfer rate of the mobile station; if the estimated expected transfer rate is below a predetermined reference value, selecting at least two bases stations in order of the strength of the received signal; feeding back information on the selected base stations and channel conditions thereof to a serving base station that is providing the mobile station with the communication services or to a base station that is to serve the mobile station; allocating power and resources to the mobile station by the selected base stations; and performing signal transmission/reception with the selected base stations by using the allocated power and resources.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method for performing sequential scheduling in a multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) system is provided. The method includes the steps of: selecting a user which reports the greatest partial feedback information among a plurality of pieces of partial feedback information of all users in an initialization operation, and requesting channel feedback information to the selected user; and broadcasting the channel feedback information of the selected user to remaining unselected users upon receiving the channel feedback information from the selected user. Accordingly, a maximum capacity can be obtained by using only selective channel feedback information without having to feed back channel state information of all users.

    Abstract: A resource allocation method in a multiuser-multiple-input multiple-output/orthogonal frequency division multiple access (MIMO/OFDMA) system. In the multiuser-MIMO/OFDMA system feedback information is received from terminals. A channel gain and a transmission rate for each user are determined using the feedback information. An average channel gain for each user is computed according to the channel gain. The average number of bits for each user is determined according to the average channel gain. The number of subchannels for each user is computed according to the average number of bits for each user. At least one subchannel is allocated to each user according to the number of subchannels for each user. A modulation scheme for each of the at least one subchannel is determined. The resource allocation method adaptively allocates subchannels and bits according to channel environment, thereby considerably improving frequency use efficiency as well as a power gain.

    Abstract: Disclosed is an adaptive receiving MIMO (multi input and multi output) system and method which decides a symbol detecting order so as to estimate the symbol having the minimum summation of weights of least square errors at the time of estimating the symbol for respective equalizers provided in parallel by the number of transmit antennas, and updates filter tap coefficients based on the RLS algorithm according to the detecting orders. Therefore, the filter tap coefficients are directly updated without tracking channels in the time-varying channel environment, and accordingly, detection performance very similar to those of the channel tracking and conventional V-BLAST scheme is provided with reduced complexity.

    Abstract: A disk cartridge includes a case accommodating a disk, a cover installed at the case to be capable of being open and shut and having a hole formed thereon to be open to an outside of the cover, a shutter installed under the disk in the case to be capable of moving to open and shut an opening formed on the case, and a clamping member installed at the cover to seal the hole to clamp the disk. Thus, since the clamping member blocks the hole of the cover connected to the outside of the cover, possibility of intrusion of dust into the disk cartridge is reduced. Also, since there is no need to install the clamping member at the disk drive, the disk drive can be made simplified and slim.

The magnetic circuit is divided into a first magnetic circuit to drive the objective lenses in the focusing direction, and a second magnetic circuit to drive the objective lenses in the tracking direction, thereby reducing the weight of a moving portion.

    Abstract: A disk cartridge includes a case accommodating a disk and having a first hole, a cover installed at the case and having a second hole open to an outside of the cover, a shutter installed to be capable of moving with respect to the case disposed under the disk to open/shut the first hole formed on the case, and a plurality of protruding portions provided at the shutter to support a non information area provided at an outer circumferential side of the disk and having inclined surfaces inclined at a predetermined angle. When the shutter is opened, the disk descends along the inclined surfaces. When the shutter is shut, the disk ascends along the inclined surfaces to closely contact a portion of the cover disposed around the second hole of the cover. Thus, since the shutter contacts only a non-information area of the disk, an information area of the disk can be safely kept from being damaged during an operation of opening/shutting the first hole.
