The secondary battery also has a lower battery assembly including a lower can housing an electrode assembly, the electrode assembly having a first electrode, a second electrode, and a separator interposed between the first electrode for preventing a short circuit between the two electrodes. A first electrode tap connects the first electrode to the cap unit and a second electrode tap connects the second electrode to the lower can.
