  • Patent number: 7477804
Abstract: The present invention is an interpolation device and method. According to the present invention, a plurality of pixels close to a pixel to be interpolated are sequentially set to a central pixel. When a pixel difference closest to a threshold value among pixel differences between the central pixel and a plurality of pixels around the central pixel belongs to a quasi-edge decision range, an edge interpolation and a bilinear interpolation are mixed to interpolate the pixel to be interpolated. As a result, it is possible to prevent reduction in image quality due to an edge verdict caused by unstable input image signal and perform a stable interpolation operation.

  • Publication number: 20070200932
Abstract: An image tuning system and method using a stored image signal, in which the image tuning system includes an image processing device and an external device. The image processing device outputs a third image signal by processing a first or second image signal according to a tuning parameter. The external device calculates the tuning parameter based on the third image signal. The image processing device receives the second image from the external device in a tuning mode and processes the second image. The image tuning system and the image tuning method using the stored raw image signal can prevent wasting time and extra efforts are not required for setting the tuning parameter adaptive to various weather conditions by repeatedly setting the tuning parameter with respect to a picture image.

  • Patent number: 7102695
Abstract: A method and apparatus for selectively enhancing contrast depending on the level of incoming video signals while preserving colors are provided. An apparatus for enhancing the contrast and brightness of a video signal displayed on a display device includes: a first luminance level transformation circuit that receives luminance and chrominance signals, reduces the level of the luminance signal in response to a first control signal, and outputs the chrominance signals and the luminance signal whose level has been reduced; an image converting circuit that receives the output signals from the first luminance level transformation circuit and converts the received signals into RGB video signals; and a second luminance level transformation circuit that receives the RGB video signals from the image converting circuit, concurrently increases the respective levels of the RGB video signals in response to a second control signal, and outputs the RGB video signals whose levels have been increased.

  • Publication number: 20060193413
Abstract: A method of capturing data that are transferred in synchronization with a data strobe signal. The method includes sampling a data strobe signal at a clock frequency higher than a data rate to detect a transition point of the data strobe signal (e.g., by generating and comparing a plurality of sampled data strobe signals), and sampling data to generate sampled data, and selecting reliable data among the sampled data based upon the transition point. A data capture circuit that captures data transferred in synchronization with a data strobe signal, includes a data strobe signal sampling circuit, a data sampling circuit, and may further include a transition position-indicating signal (case) generator and a data selection circuit. Accordingly, the method and the data capture circuit may effectively capture the data transferred in synchronization with the data strobe signal without employing or including a DLL on the chip.

  • Publication number: 20060103680
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for calculating source image coordinates. In an embodiment, a variation rate of the source image coordinate with respect to a converted image coordinate is calculated by a recursive computation, and variation rates are accumulated to obtain the source image coordinate. Because the converted image coordinate sequentially increases one-by-one, the variation rate may be obtained by using adding operations of previously obtained source image coordinate, rather than multiplying operations with the all of the converted image coordinates. Therefore, the source image coordinates may simply and effectively be calculated.

  • Patent number: 6771835
Abstract: A 2-dimensional non-linear interpolation system and method based on edge information includes an edge detector, an edge direction modifier, a near-edge coefficient generator, a filter coefficient generator and a non-linear interpolation unit. The edge detector detects edge information among pixels from a video signal applied through an input terminal. The edge direction modifier converts the edge information detected by the edge detector on the basis of a center point among peripheral pixels of an interpolation position and outputs modified edge information. The near-edge coefficient generator converts the coordinates of the interpolation position based on the modified edge information to generate a converted interpolation position, generates edge patterns corresponding to the converted interpolation position, and generates a plurality of 2-dimensional interpolation coefficients in response to predetermined one-dimensional non-linear interpolation filter coefficients.

  • Publication number: 20040090407
Abstract: A response time accelerator and method for driving a liquid crystal display (LCD) are provided. According to the response time accelerator for driving an LCD, an acceleration unit reads previous data Pn−1 corresponding to input current data Pn from a frame memory unit that updates and stores one or more frames of previous data Pn−1. The acceleration unit then reads predetermined mapped panel output value TPO, predetermined mapped panel characteristic value TpPn, and flag information corresponding to the previous data Pn−1 and current data Pn from a table memory unit that stores predetermined mapped panel output values TPOs, predetermined mapped panel characteristic values TpPns, and flag information corresponding to the predetermined mapped panel characteristic values TpPns, and decodes the read information.

  • Patent number: 6674906
Abstract: A method and apparatus for detecting edges by which the detection of the edges of a natural image from an image obtained by mixing the graphic or text and the natural image is suppressed, to thereby stably detect edges of the graphic or the text, are disclosed. In this method, the differences in pixel value between the first pixel of sequentially input images and eight pixels adjacent to the first pixel are obtained. If all of the differences between the first pixel and the eight pixels adjacent to the first pixel are greater than a maximum threshold value or less than a minimum threshold value, the first pixel is determined to be an edge pixel. Likewise, determinations are made as to whether a second pixel, positioned adjacent the first pixel along a first dimension (for example to the left of the first pixel), is an edge pixel and whether a third pixel, positioned adjacent the first pixel along a second dimension (for example above the first pixel), is an edge pixel.
