  • Patent number: 10172443
Abstract: The present invention is directed to oral care systems having an oral care tool and a first software application. The oral care tool includes a cleaning module, a sensing module, and a communications module. The first software application is run on a computing device, such as a mobile computing device, that receives the data from the sensing module and reproduces a simulated image reflecting the result of brushing. The mobile computing device can be linked to a cloud server that receives data from the first software application and saves detailed brushing data for each user. The first software application visualizes brushing and transforms brushing into a fun game. The cloud server collects and stores the detailed brushing data and provides it to users and care providers.

  • Patent number: 8845109
Abstract: A projection system based on self emitting display panels is described, in which the projection technology involves organic/inorganic electroluminescent display panels with spatially separated color segments. The color pictures are shown in three spatially separate segments. A color combination mechanism, such as dichroic mirrors, are used to merge the three color pictures to a color picture. One of the advantages of the present invention is that only the on state pixel is driven to a bright state that uses energy. The off state pixel need not be driven to a bright state and therefore the energy consumption is virtually nothing. Another advantage is that the system does not require a separate light source and display panel. Therefore the projection system can be made very compact, which is extremely useful for portable projection systems.

  • Publication number: 20110134317
Abstract: This invention discloses a system that produces a compound image. It comprises 1) an illumination system producing at least two spatially separated illumination zones where the illuminating lights have different optical properties; 2) a display panel having at least two segments that display the component information of a compound image respectively; 3) a lens system that produces images; 4) a redirecting element that redirect the different types of light at different angles. The optical properties of light includes but are not limited to, different colors and different polarizations. For a system using different colors, it produces color images. For a system using different polarizations, it produces three dimensional images. The advantages of the current invention are simple, low cost, and highly efficient. Its applications include near-to-eye display systems, projection display systems, and three-dimensional display systems.

  • Publication number: 20090190043
Abstract: A single panel projection system that comprises an illumination system which produces spatially separated color illumination segments. A display panel having at least two segments displays corresponding color information, which is aligned with the corresponding color illumination segments. A projection lens system combines the at least two segments together into a full color picture by using an angular-color-mixing technique. The system comprises only a single panel, therefore the system cost is lower than that of other three panel systems. The system has no moving color filter, so color artifacts related to color sequential method are eliminated. Color energy is distributed to three color segments at any time, therefore the light efficiency is high.

  • Publication number: 20030071958
Abstract: A liquid crystal device for writing, inputting, and displaying information comprises: a first substrate, a second substrate, and a cell structure sandwiched between the two substrates, defining a plurality of isolated subcells. Means for applying an electric field to drive states of the cholesteric liquid crystal in the subcells is coupled to the electrodes. An electromagnetic sensitive panel is positioned proximately under the surface of the second substrate for receiving an electronic/magnetic signal transmitted by a writing tool. In use, when the tip of the writing tool is forced again and moved around the surface of the first substrate, a true track of the movement of the tip is directly shown on the writing surface, while information of the movement of the tip of the writing tool is sensed by the electromagnetic sensitive panel simultaneously.

  • Publication number: 20020180914
Abstract: Disclosed are various reverse-mode direct-view liquid crystal displays (LCD) employing a liquid crystal having a characteristic wavelength in the non-visible spectrum, including transmissive mode displays, and methods of fabrication. In accordance with the principles disclosed, a transmitance mode direct-view LCD includes a first linear polarizer, a second linear polarizer, an internal light source and a cholesteric liquid crystal (CLC) located between the first and second linear polarizers and having a characteristic wavelength to reflect in a non-visible region of light. Portions of the CLC can selectively exhibit a planar state or a focal-conic state, the portions of the CLC in the planar state appearing black, and the portions of the CLC in the focal-conic state appearing white to an observer of the LCD.

  • Publication number: 20020180913
Abstract: Disclosed are various reverse-mode direct-view liquid crystal displays (LCD) employing a liquid crystal having a characteristic wavelength in the non-visible spectrum, including reflective and transflective mode displays, and methods of fabrication. In accordance with the principles disclosed, a reflectance mode direct-view LCD includes a polarizer, a reflector, and a cholesteric liquid crystal (CLC) packed between the polarizer and reflector and having a characteristic wavelength to reflect non-visible spectrum. Portions of the CLC can selectively exhibit a planar state or a focal-conic state, the portions of the CLC in the planar state appearing black, and the portions of the CLC in the focal-conic state appearing white to an observer of the LCD. A transflective mode LCD is derived by further combination of polarizers, transflective mirrors and internal light sources.
