  • Publication number: 20080101500
Abstract: A modulator performs data processing operations such as interpolation and fractional delay adjustment on amplitude and/or phase data by performing shift operations in lieu of multiplication operations. In selected embodiments, the modulator samples input data at a first rate, processes the sampled input data using the first rate, and then interpolates the processed data to produce interpolated data. The modulator then samples the interpolated data at a second rate higher than the first rate and generates output data at the second rate.

  • Publication number: 20070184866
Abstract: A method and mobile device for decoding a paging message transmitted as multiple bursts in a wireless communication system are provided. In the method, only the first burst among four bursts of a transmitted paging message is received and equalized. The equalized first burst is compared (e.g., by computing correlation) with a reference paging message. The first comparison result value obtained from the first comparison is compared with a threshold value. If the first comparison result value is greater than the threshold value, second through fourth bursts of the paging message are not received, and a previous decoded paging message is output and a sleep state is entered. If the comparison result value is not greater than the threshold value, the second through fourth bursts are received and decoded, the decoded paging message is encoded, and a first burst of the encoded paging message is stored as the reference paging message.

  • Publication number: 20050181059
Abstract: Compositions containing particles of biologically active agents with sizes in the micron and submicron range and methods for making and using such particles are described herein. In the preferred embodiment the biologically active agents are peptides, proteins, nucleic acid molecules, or hydrophilic synthetic molecules. The particles have a size ranging from an average diameter of about 100 nm to about 2000 nm, preferably about 200 nm to 600 nm. Optionally the biologically active agents contain a polymeric coating. The particles are formed by adding a biologically active agent to an aqueous solution, mixing a nonsolvent that is miscible with water with the aqueous solution, and precipitating particles of the biologically active agents out of the nonsolvent: aqueous solution combination. The nonsolvent is typically a C1 to C6 alcohol, preferably a C2 to a C5 alcohol. In the preferred embodiment, the nonsolvent is tert-butyl alcohol.

  • Patent number: 6148623
Abstract: A method for measuring the amount of electric power consumption of a refrigerator comprises the steps of: measuring the amount of electric power consumption and a time of a defrosting cycle in a refrigerator during operation of a defrosting heater after starting a measurement of the amount of electric power consumption and during two cycles of operating a compressor after operating the defrosting heater; measuring the average of electric power consumption per cycle and the average of operating time per cycle in the refrigerator during performance of refrigerating cycles after the defrosting cycle; and calculating the total amount of electric power consumption of the refrigerator using the amount of electric power consumption during the performance of the defrosting cycle, the average amount of electric power consumption of the refrigerator during the performance of the refrigerating cycle, the time for performing the defrosting cycle, and the average time for performing the refrigerating cycle.

  • Patent number: 6138461
Abstract: A power consumption prediction method and apparatus for a refrigerator having a defrosting heater is provided. In the power consumption prediction method, a defrosting timer cycle expressed as a cumulative value of an operation time of a compressor is set. The defrosting heater is activated to perform forced defrosting. The compressor is activated so that cooling cycles are completed several times. A defrosting time, a pause time and an operation time of the compressor and the energy consumed during each time are respectively detected. Based on the detected results, a unit run cycle of the refrigerator corresponding to the defrosting timer cycle is estimated. The energy consumption for a predetermined interval of time is estimated. Accordingly, the test time for power consumption prediction for the refrigerator can be shortened.

  • Patent number: 5974814
Abstract: A refrigerator which has a device for opening/closing cool air discharge ports is disclosed. The device includes plates for opening/closing the ports, and a driving device for driving the plates. The heat exchange between an evaporator and the outside warm air is prevented during the defrosting operation when a door is open. Hence the cooling efficiency is enhanced and the frost caused by the outside warm air is not generated on the evaporater.
