A second substrate faces the first substrate. A liquid crystal layer is disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate. A backlight unit provides light to the liquid crystal layer. A color conversion layer is disposed between the liquid crystal layer and the second substrate and includes a plurality of sub-color conversion units converting and emitting the light provided by the backlight unit into light of different predetermined colors. An optical sensor is disposed within the peripheral area. The optical sensor detects the light emitted from the plurality of sub-color conversion units and generates an optical signal corresponding thereto.
