  • Patent number: 5543933
Abstract: A reserve-recording method and apparatus for a VCR are described which generate a voice signal to inform the user of information required to set and perform the reserve-recording. The apparatus includes a recording switching circuit to form a recording line between the apparatus and one of a plurality of external input devices, including a tuner for receiving a television broadcast. The reserve-recording method informs the user by voice and screen of information required to set a reserve-recording program, sets a reserve-recording mode, sorts the reserve-recording programs in their reserve numbers in order of the recording start time, and discriminates the reserve recording mode. A method of sorting reserve-recording programs according to recording start time is also provided.

  • Patent number: 5499317
Abstract: An audio message storing circuit and a control method thereof in a timer program of a video cassette recorder for recording an audio information simultaneously with the timer program and outputting the stored audio information when the present time is equal to a programmed time. The audio message storing circuit uses a key matrix, a timer, a communication processor, a microphone, a analog/digital converter, a random access memory, a gate and hold circuit, a digital/analog converter, a low band pass filter, an amplifier, and an audio recording circuit coupled to a record/playback head of the video cassette recorder. The method is carried out by the steps of storing the audio information in the random access memory, setting a timer program, and reading the stored information sequentially. The audio signal is outputted to the record/playback head of the recorder when the present time is equal to the programmed time.

  • Patent number: 5311374
Abstract: A recording/reproducing system for use in a digital audio tape recorder using memory functions and a method thereof which are capable of storing reproduced aural signals in a memory bank, and capable of reading and recording the stored aural signals without the use of an additional DAT system. The system includes a memory section for storing signals that are input to a D/A converter from a digital signal processing section, and a memory controlling section for storing signals that are input to the D/A converter from the memory section, and for reading and applying the signals stored in the memory section to the digital signal processing section. As a result, the system and the method for recording/reproducing can duplicate a tape with one DAT by storing reproduced signals in the memory when the DAT is in are producing mode and reading and recording the stored signals in a tape.
