  • Patent number: 5918959
Abstract: A foodstuff storing device for a refrigerator. The device comprises a projection formed at a lower surface of the shelf, a partition member for separating a vegetable compartment into two chambers, two vegetable boxes which are slidably inserted into the two chambers respectively and guiding members provided at a inside wall of a refrigerating compartment for guiding the vegetable boxes. The partition member comprises a coupling member fixedly assembled with the projection, a supporting member separating the vegetable compartment into the two chambers, and rollers mounted on the supporting member so as to allow the vegetable boxes to be slidably supported thereon. By the rollers installed at the two boxes, the supporting member and guiding members, the sliding movement of the boxes is facilitated.

  • Patent number: 5904054
Abstract: Apparatus for supplying an exact quantity of a water to an the ice tray is provided. The apparatus includes a first container having a same volume as the ice tray and being rotatably installed below the water tank, and a valve unit for opening and closing the water tank. A driving member for rotating the first container and at the same time, raising and lowering the valve unit is provided. A water supply member is installed in a partition wall which partitions off the freezing and refrigerating compartments. The water supply member flows water from an outlet pipe of a second container to the ice tray. At first, water is supplied to the first container, and then water supplied to the first container is supplied to the ice tray. Therefore, an exact amount of water is supplied to the ice tray.

  • Patent number: 5887960
Abstract: A tray assembly for a refrigerator which is inserted into and withdrawn from a refrigerating compartment. The tray assembly has a tray which is slidably installed on a pair of guide members which are formed at both side walls of a refrigerating compartment, a vertical roller which is mounted on both end portions of the tray and makes contact with the guide members, a horizontal roller which is mounted at both sides of the tray and makes contact with a side wall of the refrigerator compartment. The tray assembly allows the tray to be more conveniently inserted into and withdrawn from the refrigerating compartment, thereby preventing a shakiness of the tray in the left and right directions while the tray is being inserted into or withdrawn from the refrigerating compartment.

  • Patent number: 5881930
Abstract: A valve assembly of a water dispenser for a refrigerator includes a connecting part connected to a reservoir which stores water, a valve spool for opening/closing the connecting part, a biasing spring placed between the connecting part and valve spool, for exerting a biasing force to the valve spool, and an open/close part for raising the valve spool by overcoming the biasing force of the biasing spring. The horizontal motion of a slide member sliding along a base plate swings the cams, and the swing motion of the cams raises the valve spool. Once valve spool ascends, the connecting part is opened and the water within the reservoir is poured into a cup. The valve assembly is easy and convenient to use, is simple in structure, and maximizes the space efficiency of a refrigerating compartment door.

  • Patent number: 5862952
Abstract: A water dispenser of a refrigerator which comprises a reservoir for storing water, and is positioned in a pocket, a holding member for supporting the pocket, a valve assembly for supporting the holding member, and an opening/closing section for operating the valve assembly. The holding member is inserted into the holding member upside down. The valve assembly includes an outlet conduit screw-coupled to the reservoir, through which the water contained in the reservoir is exhausted. The outlet conduit is opened and closed by a packing member, and the packing member is moved upward and downward by the valve rod. The valve rod is moved upward and downward by an opening/closing section having a pair of cams. The water dispenser is simple in structure, increases efficient space use of the refrigerating compartment door, is convenient to use, and can be cleanly maintained.

  • Patent number: 5819552
Abstract: An air-circulated refrigerator in which a conventional separate partition, in which air passages are formed is unnecessary, so that it can be assembled easily and promptly and the freezer and refrigerating compartments are space efficient. An evaporator and fans are installed to an air duct assembly. The air duct assembly has a main air duct, an air duct cover, an air duct insulation member and air guide ducts. In the main duct, air passages are formed. One end of each of the air guide ducts is inserted into and communicated with each of the corresponding air passages, and the other end of each of the air guide ducts is inserted into each of the openings of the refrigerating compartment so as to be communicated with the refrigerating compartment.
