    Abstract: An array substrate and a display panel are disclosed. In the array substrate, array electrodes of at least a portion of pixel units that are adjacent to a base plate edge have areas that are gradually decreased from a base plate center toward the base plate edge. The portion of the array electrodes gradually decreased are arranged in a region of a display panel in which the brightness is relatively bright. If the areas of the array electrodes are decreased, the aperture ratios of the pixel units are reduced. After the aperture ratios of the pixel units are reduced, light transmission rate in an edge zone of the array substrate can be lowered. As such, the portion of the base plate edge of which light is relatively bright is made corresponding to the brightness of the base plate center, thereby realizing the improvement on the nonuniformity of periphery displaying.

    Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a magnetic head, a head gimbal assembly, a hard disk drive, and a method for processing a magnetic head. The method comprises irradiating at a fixed point proximal to the read/write part with a laser irradiation device until the read head and the write head are thermally expanded; orientating air bearing surfaces of a plurality of magnetic heads forming a magnetic strip toward a lapping surface of a lapping device after laser irradiation, holding the air bearing surfaces in place, lapping with the lapping device until the air bearing surfaces are coplanar; and disassembling the magnetic strip to obtain a lapped magnetic head. Through laser heating induced compensation, the heights of lapped read head and write head of the magnetic head meet their respective target values, ensuring the normal reading and writing of the storage medium of the magnetic disk.

    Abstract: Systems and techniques for testing audio-video synchronization using one or more timestamps are presented. On a media sender end, a media stream with a video stream and an audio stream is generated. A matrix barcode timestamp is added onto a video frame of the video stream at a particular time. Furthermore, a tone timestamp is embedded into the audio stream at the particular time. Additionally, on a media receiver end, a modified media stream is received. For example, the video stream with the matrix barcode timestamp at the particular time and the audio stream with the tone timestamp at the particular time are received. The matrix barcode timestamp is decoded to determine a first time value and the tone timestamp is decoded to determine a second time value. The first time value is compared with the second time value to determine synchronization of the video stream and the audio stream.

    Abstract: Artificial ices enable the study of geometrical frustration by design and through direct observation. It has, however, proven difficult to achieve tailored long-range ordering of their diverse configurations, limiting both fundamental and applied research directions. An artificial spin structure design is described that produces a magnetic charge ice with tunable long-range ordering of eight different configurations. A technique is also developed to precisely manipulate the local magnetic charge states and demonstrate write-read-erase multi-functionality at room temperature. This globally reconfigurable and locally writable magnetic charge ice provides a setting for designing magnetic monopole defects, tailoring magnetics and controlling the properties of other two-dimensional materials.

    Abstract: A method is disclosed for recycling polymer containers contaminated with oil, for example used HDPE motor oil containers, in an energy efficient manner, that does not require a costly washing step. The commercial value of the polymers is preserved by converting the contaminated polymers into value-added products. Composites are made from discarded motor oil containers, the residual motor oil therein, cellulosic fibers, and blending agents or other additives. In one embodiment, the process uses the residual oil to advantage as a fiber blending agent, or to make polymer types in a blend more compatible with one another.
