  • Patent number: 6768084
Abstract: A system and a method for thermally processing a semiconductor substrate are disclosed which provide a heater chamber and a process chamber environmentally isolated from one another by a thermally-transparent plate. A heater assembly situated within the heater chamber comprises one or more quasi-continuous heater elements, and is operable to linearly translate with respect to the process chamber by a linear translation assembly. Thermal radiation is transmitted from the heater elements through the plate toward a substrate situated within the process chamber, wherein one or more temperature sensors measure a temperature associated with one or more respective locations on the substrate. A controller coupled to the one or more temperature sensors, heater assembly, and linear translation assembly controls the thermal radiation emitted by the heater assembly, as well as a distance between the heater assembly and the substrate, wherein the control is based on the one or more measured temperatures.

  • Patent number: 6753506
Abstract: A method and apparatus for thermal processing of a workpiece reduces the time taken for a processing gas to be purged, or switched, during one or more processing steps for thermal processing systems. The thermal processing system includes a heating chamber in accordance with one example embodiment of the present invention. A small-volume workpiece enclosure is disposed about the workpiece. A translation mechanism, e.g., in the form of a positioning assembly, supports the small-volume workpiece enclosure for moving the small-volume workpiece enclosure and the workpiece within the heating chamber. The small-volume workpiece enclosure enables the use of relatively smaller amounts of process (ambient) gases, and decreases the purge time of such gases. The heating chamber can have at least one of a thermal radiation intensity gradient and a temperature gradient for thermally processing the workpiece. The heating chamber can have one or more heating elements disposed about the heating chamber.

  • Publication number: 20040076895
Abstract: An accurate, cost-effective system and method for correcting 3D effects on an alternating phase-shifting mask (PSM) is provided. To facilitate this correction, a library can be built to include a first group of 180 degree phase-shifting regions, wherein these regions have a common first size. Based on this first size, 3D simulation is performed. A transmission and a phase are altered in a 2D simulation based on this first size until a shape dependent transmission and a shape dependent phase allow the 2D simulation to substantially match the 3D simulation. Finally, a modified first size is chosen using the shape dependent transmission and the shape dependent phase such that a 2D simulation based on the modified first size substantially matches the 3D simulation based on the first size. The library associates the first size with the modified first size, the shape dependent transmission, and the shape dependent phase.

  • Publication number: 20030202270
Abstract: A disc drive with a disc having multiple concentric data tracks. A track start point is rotationally displaced by a track skew time relative to a track start point of an adjacent concentric data tracks. The read/write head has a write settling time that is more than the track skew time. A data reordering circuit and firmware reorders write data and provides the reordered data to the read/write head after the write settling time. The reordering of the write data reduces write latency.

  • Publication number: 20030104575
Abstract: The present invention utilizes AAV as a vector to transfect epithelial cells with an AAV/heterologous gene containing/Neo vector, to form a heterologous protein secreting culture of epithelial cells. This culture is useful for preparing recombinant skin using the organotypic epithelial raft culture system. The sheets of epithelial cells is composed of a stratified sqaumous epithelium composed of a lower layer of immature basal cells and an upper layer of mature keratinized epithelium. The rAAV virus stock prepared without wild type AAV is useful in expressing heterologous protein, however, the maximum production of the heterologous protein was achieved; when the rAAV virus stock contained wild type AAV. This invention discloses that AAV is appropriate for genetically altering skin to secrete new proteins to treat diseases and skin disorders or conditions.
