  • Patent number: 8514926
Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for encryption of a scalable video coding (SVC) bitstream, which is the next-generation coding technology. The encryption method encrypts Network Abstraction Layer (NAL) data identified according to multidimensional scalability for space, time, and quality with respect to a bitstream created after an SVC encoding, thereby providing a multidimensional scalability function for space, time, and quality even after the encryption, so that the scalability is also maintained even in a bitstream extraction process after the encryption. According to such a scalable encryption method, a specific portion of an encrypted bitstream is removed in a bitstream extraction process, and user access to the bitstream is limited based on a combination of keys for accessing a specific scalability. Therefore, it is possible to protect scalable video content and to access the video content based on scalabilities.

  • Patent number: 7925721
Abstract: The present invention relates to modality conversion for supporting Quality of Service (QoS) according to media resources, which includes the steps of receiving a modality conversion descriptor in which the characteristics of the modality conversion of the multimedia contents are described, receiving the multimedia contents, and converting the modality of the multimedia contents into a modality determined according to a media resource and the modality conversion descriptor. According to the present invention, a systematic approach to a design for an overlap content value model is provided so that the conversion boundaries between modalities can be quantitatively calculated. As a result, the correlation between various modalities can be established in a single model, and modality conversion supporting the optimal QoS can be performed.

  • Patent number: 7853864
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of systematically and synthetically accessing modality conversion that is an important part in the contents adaptive conversion process of a universal multimedia access system. The present invention provides an effective method of solving a problem, which is incurred at the time of modality conversion and still remains as one of difficult problems incurred during adaptive contents conversion. For this purpose, the present invention includes overlapped contents modeling newly proposed to determine modality conversion, a method of flexibly and clearly expressing and applying user preference for the modality conversion, and a resource allocation method of distributing resources among complicated contents based on the user preference. As a result, the integration of the above three methods provides a synthetic solution, particularly, to a problem incurred in the modality conversion and, generally, to a problem incurred in the adaptive conversion of contents.

  • Publication number: 20100287053
Abstract: The present invention solves the problem of automatically recognizing multiple known faces in photos or videos on a local computer storage device (on a home computer). It further allows for sophisticated organization and presentation of the photos or videos based on the graphical selection of known faces (by selecting thumbnail images of people). It also solves the problem of sharing or distributing photos or videos in an automated fashion between ‘friends’ who are also using the same software that enables the invention. It further solves the problem of allowing a user of the invention to review the results of the automatic face detection, eye detection, and face recognition methods and to correct any errors resulting from the automated process.

  • Publication number: 20100232508
Abstract: Provided is a scalable video coding method and apparatus. Motion data of a high-quality fine grain scalability (FGS) layer is used for interlayer coding in order to remove redundancy between coarse grain scalability (CGS) layers or layers having different spatial resolutions, and information indicating that data of the FGS layer has been used for interlayer motion prediction is inserted for Moving Picture Expert Group (MPEG)-4 scalable video encoding. A bitstream extractor checks the information and performs extraction to maintain the data of the FGS layer. MPEG-4 scalable video decoding is performed using the information. By using the FGS layer, interlayer redundancy can be efficiently removed, thereby improving encoding efficiency.

  • Publication number: 20100046620
Abstract: Provided are alternatives for improving coding efficiency when an AR-FGS technique and an FGS motion refinement technique are applied to scalable video coding. When prediction of a residual signal an FGS layer is not performed, a ? prediction signal of block related to the FGS layer is predicted in the same manner as the manner of predicting a prediction signal of a base quality layer. A scaling factor is allowed to have a non-zero value if required, and the residual signal of the FGS layer is used to determine a scaling factor of a higher FGS layer. The AR-FGS and FGS motion refinement techniques are restricted from being simultaneously used for key pictures.

  • Patent number: 7231392
Abstract: Provided is an improved pornography blocking technique which blocks pornography on the basis of the contents of multimedia data. First, feature descriptor is extracted from multimedia data inputted from the Internet by using MPEG-7 scheme. And referring to reference pornography database which stores reference pornography in the form of feature descriptor, the similarity degree between the extracted feature descriptor and the feature descriptor of the reference pornography is measured by calculating the vector distance between the two feature descriptors. And it is determined whether the inputted multimedia data is pornography or not, by comparing the measured similarity degree with the similarity measurement threshold value. According to the invention, accurate pornography determining is possible, because the invention uses the contents of the multimedia data for determining.
