  • Publication number: 20240363201
Abstract: Proposed is a system and method for simulations of marine pollution dispersion using a numerical tracer technique, wherein modeling is faster than conventional diffusion modeling methods by reducing computational volume and load and thereby a simulation of marine pollution dispersion with respect to the long-term continuous discharge may be performed through the numerical tracer technique by configuring to simulate the marine dispersion of suspended sediments (SS) and COD using the Quick Dispersion (Q-DISP) model, which is a diffusion model using the Monte Carlo method, in order to solve the problems of conventional marine pollution dispersion modeling systems and methods using numerical tracer techniques which have the disadvantage of requiring a high-performance computer and a large amount of memory due to the increased computation.

  • Publication number: 20240319317
Abstract: Proposed is an underwater drift tracking system based on a maritime positioning platform. The underwater drift tracking system may include a plurality of underwater drifting objects configured to transmit sound wave signals including their own water depth information by using sound wave communication while drifting underwater. The underwater drift tracking system may also include a maritime drift tracker configured to track real-time underwater locations of the underwater drifting objects by moving on the sea under its own power, receiving the transmitted sound wave signals from the plurality of underwater drifting objects, and calculating absolute location information of the plurality of underwater drifting objects using the received sound wave signals.

  • Publication number: 20240140561
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for acquiring location information of an observation buoy reflecting influence of an ocean current and a method for assessing damage risk relating to spilled oil dispersion of a sunken ship by using same location information. At least one small observation buoy is floated on a target sea area, and a relay buoy collects location information from the observation buoy and predicts ocean current distribution of the target sea area on the basis of the collected information; and the predicted ocean current distribution is applied to a step of predicting spilled oil dispersion in a surrounding sea area so that damage risk relating to spilled oil dispersion of a sunken ship is precisely assessable.

  • Publication number: 20230314144
Abstract: Proposed is a system and method for estimating a drift path of a marine floating body for more accurately estimating a path with a relatively simple configuration and at a relatively low cost. The system and method may achieve a quick and accurate search and contribute to minimizing damage because the system and method can consider both left drift and right drift with respect to a wind direction. The system and method may simulate drift (Leeway) of a marine floating body with respect wind in consideration of both of a Downwind Component of Leeway (DWL) and a Crosswind Component of Leeway (CWL), for example, using Monte Carlo technique, and by creating signs (+/?) by applying a uniform random number to the CWL.
