  • Patent number: 10854984
Abstract: A method of manufacturing an integrated radio frequency (RF) module, comprising structurally forming at least one RF waveguide and at least one RF radiator of a metalized ceramic material. The RF waveguide(s) and the RF radiator(s) are connected and operatively coupled with each other. Each of the RF radiator(s) comprises a metalized outer wall and at least one metalized axial ridge extending along an inner surface of the outer wall. The method further comprises sintering the metalized ceramic material to create a monolithic structure comprising the RF waveguide and RF radiator, and operatively coupling RF circuitry to the RF waveguide(s).
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 10, 2016
Date of Patent: December 1, 2020
    Assignee: The Boeing Company
Inventors: Yong U. Kim, Andrew G. Laquer

  • Patent number: 7605770
Abstract: A flap antenna may include a radio frequency (RF) feed and a shaped reflector formed in a selected shape to reflect electromagnetic radiation to or from the RF feed. The flap antenna may also include a flap reflector to reflect the electromagnetic radiation to or from the shaped reflector. The flap reflector may be a flat plate or the like.

  • Patent number: 6714163
Abstract: A phased array antenna system for an aircraft which allows a beam from the antenna to be scanned down to or below the horizon when the aircraft is traveling at high latitudes. The system comprises a conformal phased array antenna aperture mounted on either a top, port or a starboard side of a fuselage of the aircraft, and at least one feedhorn mounted either in a blade secured to the fuselage or in a leading edge of a horizontal stabilizer of the aircraft. The feedhorn illuminates the conformal antenna aperture and the aperture projects a beam therefrom which can be more easily directed at targets at or below the horizon. The invention allows smaller antenna apertures to be used to scan a beam toward the horizon.
