    Abstract: Provided is a method and apparatus for managing networks.     Abstract: In a method of establishing a communication link in an ADSL system, a bit masking operation is performed on errors occurring in initialization messages of message tones and backup tones used to transmit/receive the initialization messages. Errors of one of the initialization messages of the message tones and the backup tones of which the errors are bit-masked are corrected. A cyclic redundancy check operation is performed on the initialization message having the corrected errors. Link establishment or link failure is determined based on the result of the cyclic redundancy check. Since some portion of errors of the initialization messages are removed in advance of a cyclic redundancy check operation, it is possible to stably perform a link establishment process.

The apparatus for preventing baggage from getting lost, change, or stolen in which a baggage tag storing baggage management information is attached to the baggage and a receipt tag storing the baggage management information is issued to a baggage owner, the apparatus includes: a tag reader reading the receipt tag and the baggage tag in a predetermined area; and a determiner determining whether the tag reader reads the receipt tag including the same baggage management information as the baggage management information of the baggage tag within a predetermined time before and after the tag reader reads the baggage tag. As a result, air baggage is quickly and exactly managed, costs is reduced, and foreign confidence of an airport is increased, thereby preventing baggage from getting lost and exchanged.

The currently allocated bit numbers of one or more subchannels is adjusted until a sum of the currently allocated bit numbers is equal to the target bit number.

    Abstract: A method for estimating a phase response for an upstream area in a channel is based on an extrapolation and, following forcible distortion of an amplitude response, coefficients of a time domain equalizer and coefficients of a channel target circuit are determined using a minimum MSE algorithm. When the cost function of a minimum MES is determined, the square of the coefficients of the time domain equalizer are included for determining the cost function in order to reduce the probability that the coefficients of the time domain equalizer diverge. A channel-shortening effect of the time domain equalizer is improved to reduce inter-symbol interference (ISI) and inter-channel interference (ICI). As a result, a signal to noise ratio (SNR) of a communication system is improved.
