Abstract: An air conditioner includes a manual control panel for enabling a user to select from among a number of operating modes, including respective areas of a room to receive discharged air from the air conditioner. In accordance with the selected mode, there occurs an automatic adjustment of the orientation of air-directing vanes and the speed of an air discharge fan. The vanes can be adjusted to stationary positions, or can be oscillated.

Abstract: A method of sensing condensed water of an air conditioner which is driven by a compressor motor's operation through a motor driving portion, to heat-exchange the inside, comprises the steps of--sensing temperature by means of a temperature sensor mounted within a condensed water bucket, before comparing it with a predetermined temperature set in a control portion, during the operation of the air conditioner; driving the motor driving portion in order to operate the compressor motor until the room temperature detected by the temperature sensor reaches the temperature set by a user, if the indoor temperature is above the temperature already set; and stopping the motor driving portion in order to halt the operation of the compressor motor, deciding that condensed water collects in the condensed water bucket, and displaying an error message through a display as well as generating an alarm sound through an alarm sound generating portion, if the room temperature is below the temperature already set.

Abstract: This invention relates to an air flow control apparatus for an air conditioner for implementing the air conditioning of the entire room by controlling air flow direction and preset temperature, the apparatus including an operation manipulating unit for manipulating keys so as to supply the discharging air to any selected places to be air conditioned, an control unit for controlling flow direction, flow rate and preset temperature of the discharging air to supply the air to the places in response to the selected keys, a unit to adjust air flow direction of the discharging air in order to control angles of the blades in response to the control unit, and a compressor driving unit for driving a compressor so as to adjust room temperature with the preset temperature by the control unit.

Abstract: A home appliance such as an air conditioner, refrigerator, television, or tape recorder, includes a drive element, a controller for controlling the drive element, and a manual input panel for enabling a user to input a drive signal for driving the drive element. A counter counts a time interval following the inputting of a drive signal to delay driving of the drive element until a predetermined time period has elapsed. If no counter signal is input driving the predetermined time period, the drive element is driven.

Abstract: An air conditioner includes an inlet for receiving room air, a heat exchanger for heating or cooling the air, an outlet for discharging the heated or cooled air back into the room, a fan for circulating the air through the air conditioner, inlet and outlet doors for opening/closing the inlet and outlet, a motor for driving the doors, and a controller for automatically actuating the motor to open the doors when the air conditioner is activated, and close the doors when the air conditioner is deactivated. A control by-pass is provided in a remote controller which is relatively inaccessible to a normal user but which can be actuated by an air conditioner tester or shipper for maintaining the doors open even when the air conditioner is deactivated (e.g., during testing or shipping) to prevent the doors from being damaged.

Abstract: An air conditioner includes an air outlet for discharging temperature-conditioned air. Horizontal and vertical blades extend across the air outlet and are pivotably adjustable for controlling the up/down and right/left directions of air flow, respectively. The blades are pivotable by means of motors. A manually manipulable control panel enables a user to select between automatic and manual control over the positions of the blades. If automatic control is selected, then the horizontal and/or vertical blades are continuously pivoted within a predetermined angle. If manual control is selected, a target position for the horizontal and/or vertical blades is chosen, wherein a detector senses a current position of the blades and stops the motor(s) when the target position has been reached.

Abstract: This invention relates to a suction inlet/discharge outlet opening or closing apparatus for an air conditioner having a function to close a suction inlet and a discharge outlet at the time of recovery of electric power, with reference to a time duration retrieved from an appropriate storage containing the time duration counted during a closing/opening of the suction inlet and discharge outlet, and a method therefor.
