Abstract: The present invention relates to method and apparatus of providing supplementary service information for A/V contents written in a recording medium. This method has a recording medium containing Presentation Language data, which have to be included like as in a digital television signal for supplementary service information in accordance with Advanced TV Enhancement Forum or Digital TV Application Software Environment standard, and reproduces, if a disk reproduction is requested, the Presentation Language data as well as requested A/V data and provides them for a connected external device such as a digital television. As a result, various video information and functions provided with Presentation Language data by a recording medium can be realized at a digital television set being able to accept Presentation Language data.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for retrieving information for managing video data involving link information associating metadata with the video data. A metadata indicator is used to indicate that metadata exists in a stream with the linking information. Link information also associates the metadata with location information to identify where additional information on the video data, which is described by the metadata, may be found. Using the method or apparatus, a single metadata unit is able to be associated with a plurality of video data units, or a plurality of metadata units are able to be associated with a single video data unit, in order to provide more information on the video data.

Abstract: According to method of managing and reproducing additional audio files of an interactive optical disc, additional audio data associated with main video data of an optical disc such as an interactive DVD are recorded as a file of a prescribed format. File information about the additional audio data and buffering information thereabout recorded in the file of a prescribed format. An optical disc apparatus interprets the file information and buffering information and then carries out a series of operations storing and reading out and playing the additional audio data in a way suitable to the buffering area allocated within a buffer. Consequently, additional audio data of various contents are read out from the optical disc or provided by a content providing server connected through the Internet.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a recording medium containing moving picture data and additional information thereof and to reproducing method and apparatus of the recording medium. The present recording medium has script files including additional information about moving picture data, e.g., scene descriptive text and introduction of characters, etc. In addition, information linking each script file with a section of moving picture data to be presented with contents of the script file is included in a link data file or is contained in a filename of the script file. In reproduction of the recording medium, a script file linked with presently reproduced moving picture data section is determined and searched for based on the link data file or every filename of the script files, and contents of the found script file are presented together with the presently reproduced moving picture data. Furthermore, previously presented additional information is removed depending on data or filename of the found script file.

Abstract: A method of reproducing text subtitle streams, the method includes receiving at least one text subtitle stream from an external source, each text subtitle stream including a style segment defining a group of region styles and presentation segment, each presentation segment containing at least one region of text linked to a selected one of the group of region styles, wherein a current presentation segment contains a continuous presentation flag to indicate whether the continuous presentation is required between current presentation and previous presentation; and decoding the text subtitle stream using the presentation segment defining the continuous presentation flag.

Abstract: A data reproducing method, data recording/reproducing apparatus and data transmitting method are disclosed. The present invention includes the steps of providing information for identifying a player to a server, downloading data based on the information from the server and reproducing the data. And, the present invention includes the steps of receiving information for identifying a player from the player, configuring data using the information, and transmitting the data to the player. Accordingly, content can be protected against illegal copy, illegal distribution and the like by employing player information. And, the present invention can trace a player having compromised content.

Abstract: In one embodiment, the method includes, receiving at least one text subtitle stream from an external source. Each text subtitle stream includes a style segment and at least one presentation segment associated with the style segment. The style segment includes at least one set of style information, and each set of style information provides region positioning information for positioning a region in an image and a text box including information for positioning a text box in the region. The presentation segment includes at least one region subtitle information, and the region subtitle information includes text subtitle data and a region style identifier. The region style identifier identifies one of the sets of style information in the style segment to apply to the text subtitle data. The text subtitle stream is decoded using style information including region positioning information and text box positioning information.

Abstract: According to one embodiment of the present invention, a multi-hop network system includes: a transmission node; a reception node; a router node; and a flow control node connected to all nodes within the multi-hop network system. The flow control node periodically receives flow monitoring information from at least one transmission node and evaluates whether the distributed state of the bandwidth of a network is fair. At this time, the flow control node sets a queue length threshold as transmission rate control information for fairly distributing the bandwidth of the network and transmits the set queue length threshold to at least one transmission node when unfairness has been detected. The transmission node sets the queue length threshold as a reference point for adjusting the transmission rate and performs the packet and/or link scheduling.

The dialog text includes at least one pair of an inline style and a text string. The inline style changes one of the region presentation properties specified by the linked region style for the text string.

Abstract: In the method, video data is reproduced from the recording medium, and an I-picture and a number of P-pictures are output as a still picture based on the reproduced video data. The output data may then be received and decoded for display.
