Abstract: A system and method are provided for initiating a secured bi-directional communication session with an implantable medical device. The system and method include configuring a pulse generator (PG) device and an external device to establish a communication link there between through a wireless protocol with a defined bonding procedure. The system and method also include transmitting a static identification and dynamic seed from the PG device through a dedicated advertisement channel to the external device and generating a passkey from a pre-defined algorithm based on the dynamic seed and a static identification. Further, the system and method include starting the defined bonding procedure.

Abstract: A method is provided for establishing a communication session with an implantable medical device (“IMD”). The method includes configuring an IMD and an external device to communicate with one another through a protocol that utilizes a dedicated advertisement channel. The advertisement period and the scan period of the protocol are independent of one another such that the advertisement and scan periods at least partially overlap intermittently after a number of cycles. When the external device detects one of the advertisement notices, the method includes establishing a communications link between the external device and the IMD.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides an image compression method and system. The method includes: receiving, by an access server, an image compression request submitted by a terminal; selecting, by the access server according to the image compression request's time information, an image compression server whose load is lower than a preset threshold, and sending the image compression request to the selected image compression server; compressing, by the selected image compression server, the images according to the image compression request, saving the compressed images, and forwarding URL addresses of the compressed images to the access server; and forwarding, by the access server, the URL addresses to the terminal. In the present disclosure, an image compression system processes an image compression request of a terminal, and performs load balancing automatically according to the load of various image compression servers in the system, thereby implementing automatic processing of mass images of the terminal.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for use with implantable medical devices or trial medical devices for wirelessly connecting the devices to external instruments such as tablet computers or smartphones. In an example where the medical device is an implantable neurostimulator, the neurostimulator passively detects wireless wake-up signals generated by the external instrument, i.e. the neurostimulator “sniffs” for advertisement signals generated by the external instrument. In response to passive detection of a wake-up signal, the implantable neurostimulator determines if a response is warranted and, if so, the neurostimulator activates its wireless transmission components to transmit an acknowledgement signal to the external instrument so as to complete a wake-up and handshake protocol.
