The method comprises: contacting an alcohol with metal sodium to yield a sodium alcoholate; contacting the sodium alcoholate with a halogen silane compound for an etherification reaction; and adding dropwise a fluorinating agent for a fluorination reaction. The organohalosilane is used for preparation of an electrolyte solution of a non-aqueous lithium ion battery.
