    Abstract: Different carriers and/or bandwidth parts (BWPs) may sometimes be utilized for wireless communication between two devices. In some prior wireless communication systems, e.g. in new radio (NR), the carrier used to transmit hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback is semi-statically configured. However, semi-static configuration might be disadvantageous, e.g. for scenarios in which latency is a concern. In some embodiments, the carrier and/or BWP for transmitting HARQ feedback is instead dynamically indicated. More generally, when two devices are wirelessly communicating with each other, the carrier and/or BWP to be used for transmitting control information may be dynamically indicated.

    Abstract: A reference sequence may be transmitted in wireless communication, e.g. in order to perform channel estimation. The use of a reference sequence introduces overhead. In some embodiments, the subcarrier spacing (SCS) of the multi-carrier symbols (e.g. OFDM symbols) used to transmit one or more reference sequences is different from the SCS of the multi-carrier symbols used to transmit information (e.g. data). In some embodiments, an original reference sequence may be spread over multiple multi-carrier symbols, with each multi-carrier symbol carrying a respective reference sequence that is a portion of the original reference sequence. The technical benefit is possibly improved channel estimation because the original reference sequence is spread in time, but with the same overhead (in terms of total occupied time of reference symbols) as transmitting all of the original reference sequence at the same time.

According to the data transmission method provided in some embodiments of this application, the terminal device may flexibly determine the transmission mode of the second data based on an actual situation, so as to reduce a transmission delay of uplink data and improve transmission reliability of the uplink data.

Paging may have high overhead when beamforming is implemented. In some embodiments, a UE-specific notification is instead transmitted in a downlink beam pointed in the direction of the UE. The UE-specific notification may be a paging message specific to the UE that indicates that there is downlink data for transmission to that UE. However, more generally the UE-specific notification may be any type of downlink notification for a UE. The notification may include downlink beam information.

    Abstract: By defining more SCS options and Discrete Fourier Transform (“DFT”) options for transmissions in future networks, there arises cause to select from among the options, with aspects of the channel as guidance for the selection. In addition, new CP designs may be defined for use with the new SCS options and the new DFT options along with methods of selecting a CP design appropriate to a particular situation. The new CP designs may be shown to have smaller CP overhead when compared to the known CP designs used for known combinations of an SCS option with an FFT size option. New sampling frequency design options and new system basic timing options may also be defined, along with methods of making appropriate selections from among these options. Control signaling using higher layers may be used to distribute configuration options that include multiple SCS options, CP duration options, sampling frequency options and DFT size options per sub-band.
