Abstract: A display device and a control method thereof are provided. The display device includes: a touch screen which displays a screen and senses a gesture of a user on the screen; a video processor which process an image for displaying the screen; a communication unit which performs communication with at least one neighboring device; and a controller which performs control to display a miniature image of a screen of contents being displayed and a first user interface (UI) item showing a connected neighboring device of the at least one neighboring device if a first gesture of a user is made while displaying the screen corresponding to predetermined contents, and to transmit information for sharing the contents to the corresponding neighboring device in accordance with a second gesture of a user with regard to the miniature image and the first UI item.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling objects of a user interface (UI) are provided. The method and apparatus simultaneously hide and move a selected object to a bottom of a UI when the object is encrypted, thereby not visually exposing the encrypted object to a third person, displaying, through the UI the encrypted object on a predetermined screen, directory or folder, and rearranging unselected objects to fill a space created when the selected object is hidden and moved.

Abstract: A method for reproducing contents using information received over a network and a display apparatus using the same are provided. The method for reproducing contents includes receiving specific information over a network, and displaying contents to which an image effect corresponding to the received specific information is applied. As an image effect is applied according to information which is received over a network, a user may visually recognize the received information through the image effect.

Abstract: A method for providing a link in an electronic apparatus capable of reproducing contents, includes storing a first part of a first contents in a link storage area, forming a link between a second part of a second contents and the first part stored in the link storage area, and if the link is selected, displaying the first part while a contents screen including the second part is displayed. Accordingly, a user may easily find related contents from among contents stored in the electronic apparatus as a link is formed between related contents.

Abstract: A display apparatus is provided that includes a user interface unit which displays a content, a storage unit which stores a scribble pattern, and a control unit which, if a scribble is inputted according to the stored scribble pattern, sets a content area corresponding to a spot where the scribble is inputted and stores the set content area to the storage unit, making it possible to more efficiently manage the content.

Abstract: A method for providing a graphical user interface (GUI) and a multimedia device using the same, the method including: determining if a user command is input to select a specific section of a GUI item including a plurality of sections; and extending a length of the selected section and reducing lengths of non-selected sections if it is determined that the user command is input to select the specific section of the GUI item. Therefore, the user can manipulate the GUI item more precisely.

Abstract: A display apparatus and a touch sensing method are provided. The display apparatus includes a touch screen which senses a touch by a user using a plurality of sensing types; and a controller which selects a sensing type based on an application. Therefore, a user's touch is sensed using an optimal sensing type for each application. In doing so, malfunction or inconvenience in manipulating the touch screen can be reduced.

Abstract: A method for providing a text writing function and a clipping function and an electronic apparatus applying the same are provided. If a command is input while content is being displayed, a text writing screen including information related to the content is displayed. Accordingly, since the content-related information is automatically displayed when the user writes text relating to the content, the user is not required to input the content-related information separately.

Abstract: Provided are a method and apparatus for searching for a target location using a reference point and a relative location in relation to the reference point, the method comprising receiving a reference point related to the target location; receiving relative location information relating to from the reference point to the target location; and then searching for the target location based on the reference point and the relative location information.
