Abstract: A system and method for displaying a graphical context short menu on a display screen of a mobile communication device. The method includes displaying information associated with a contact, receiving a request for a menu and displaying, in response to the request, a graphical context short menu including menu items based on context associated with the displayed information. The graphical context short menu can include an icon associated with the contact. The icon can be an image of the contact, an avatar, and name of the contact. The graphical context short menu can include nine (9) menu options with the icon in the center of the menu. The graphical context short menu can also include a more menu items in the bottom right of the menu.

Abstract: A method of controlling touch input on a touch-sensitive display when a display element is active and a portable electronic device configured for the same are provided. In accordance with one embodiment, there is provided a method of controlling touch input on a touch-sensitive display of a portable electronic device, the method comprising: displaying a widget having at least one field on a user interface screen displayed on the touch-sensitive display; selecting the field in the widget in response to predetermined interaction with the touch-sensitive display; changing the value of the selected field in accordance with a predetermined touch gesture at any location on the touch-sensitive display; and re-displaying the widget on the user interface screen with the changed value of the selected field.

Abstract: A system, device and method for providing context sensitive content on a computing device is provided. In an embodiment, a computing device in the form of a portable computing device is configured to execute a primary web-browser application and a secondary web-browser application. The primary web-browser application is configured to generate a web-page containing context sensitive items and receiving focus on one of the context sensitive items. The secondary web-browser application is configured to generate the context sensitive content related to the one of the context sensitive items.

Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a system and a method for presenting a set of icons in a display so that the icons can be selected by a user via a keypad. During operation, the display presents a set of icons to the user. The user can then select an icon from the set of icons by entering input into the keypad. The set of icons are presented in the display such that the spatial layout of the set of icons is substantially the same as the layout of the keypad, resulting in an intuitive interface that allows the user to select desired choices quickly and easily.

Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a system that uses three-dimensional (3D) and other rendering effects within a graphical display environment on a mobile device to enable a new application to be displayed while a currently-running application window remains visible within a main viewing area of a screen. During operation, the system receives a request to display a new application in the graphical display environment. Next, in response to the request, the system generates a slanted view of the currently-running application window by slanting the currently-running application window through a 3D rendering effect and moving the currently-running application window towards an edge of the screen to make room for the new application. Finally, the system displays the new application in a new display window next to the slanted view of the currently-running application window.
