  • Patent number: 10670476
Abstract: According to an embodiment of a Type-C USB cable, the Type-C USB cable comprises a near side cable plug, a far side cable plug, a single eMarker IC integrated in one of the cable plugs, the single eMarker IC including an internal temperature sensing element, a temperature sensor integrated in the opposite cable plug as the single eMarker IC, and a wire connecting the temperature sensor to the single eMarker IC. The single eMarker IC is configured to generate temperature measurement information based on temperature sensed by the internal temperature sensing element of the single eMarker IC and temperature sensed by the temperature sensor and carried to the eMarker IC over the wire that connects the temperature sensor to the single eMarker IC.

  • Patent number: 9903766
Abstract: An example method includes outputting, by a device, a first current through a temperature sensor that is that is external to the device; determining, by the device and based on a voltage drop across the temperature sensor while the first current is flowing through the temperature sensor, a current level; outputting, by the device, a second current at the determined current level through the temperature sensor; determining, by an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) of the device, a value that corresponds to a voltage drop across the temperature sensor while the second current is flowing through the temperature sensor; outputting, by the device, a third current through a reference resistor that is external to the device; and determining, based on the value and a voltage drop across the reference resistor while the third current is flowing through the reference resistor, a temperature of the temperature sensor.

  • Patent number: 9772231
Abstract: In one example, a method includes determining, by a device, a plurality of voltage values that each correspond to a respective voltage drop across a remote p-n junction while the remote p-n junction is biased at different respective current levels, wherein each of the plurality of voltage values is a function of at least: one of the different respective current levels, a temperature of the remote p-n junction, and a series resistance between the device and the remote p-n junction. In this example, the method also includes, determining, by the device, an intermediate value based on a difference between at least three voltage values of the plurality of voltage values, wherein the intermediate value is not a function of the series resistance, and determining the temperature of the remote p-n junction based on the intermediate value such that the temperature is not a function of the series resistance.

  • Publication number: 20160003683
Abstract: An example method includes determining, based on a local VBE value and a local ?VBE value that represents a difference between a pair of local voltage values, a first value that corresponds to a temperature of a local sensor core, wherein a local voltage value of the pair of local voltage values corresponds to a voltage drop across a local p-n junction of the local sensor core; determining, based on a local VBE value and a remote ?VBE value that represents a difference between a pair of remote voltage values, a second value that corresponds to a temperature of a remote sensor core, wherein the pair of remote voltage values each correspond to respective voltage drops across a remote p-n junction of the remote sensor core. The example method also includes determining the temperature of the remote sensor core based at least on the first value and the second value.
