Abstract: A method for suppressing the population of Pentatomid insect pest. According to the method, a foliar fertilizer is prepared containing at least one type of nutritive heavy metal. The fertilizer is sprayed on egg masses deposited by Pentatomid insect species, causing a significant mortality among the neonates.

Abstract: Compositions for the control of microbial pests containing ions of zinc (Zn++) and copper (Cu++) solubilized in water, in which at least some of the ions are complexed with at least one ligand. EDTA is always excluded from the composition. If one of the ligands is citric acid, it is used in an amount smaller than the total molarity of both metals used.

Abstract: A composition for controlling pests. The composition includes an aqueous mixture of at least one phenolic aldehyde and a bisulfite salt with a suitable surfactant and a sufficient amount of the bisulfite salt to solubilize the aldehyde(s). A stable apparent solution is formed.

Abstract: Two phenolic compounds occurring in nature were useful in the control of some pests. Salicylaldehyde is a substance produced by some plants and some animals. A novel pest control agent is based on salicylaldehyde. It is active against caterpillars (larvae of butterflies and moths) as well as earthworms and molluscs. In combination with garlic extract it enhances the activity of such extract. An agent for the control of insects in agriculture comprises vanillin. The vanillin powder is solubilised in water for spraying onto insects infesting crops.

Abstract: The present invention deals with pesticidal compositions comprising as the active component a silicon ester of formula (I), and a method for controlling insects, mites, nematodes and fungi, by the application of such a composition. The invention is further directed to a method for the preparation silicon esters of formula (I) and some such novel compounds.

The composition comprises a product obtained by mixing said one or more metal ions with a reducing sugar following heating of the sugar under alkaline conditions.
