  • Patent number: 11844665
Abstract: A first part of an annuloplasty structure is anchored to an annulus of a valve of a heart by using a driver to screw a tissue-coupling element of a first anchor into a first site of the annulus, such that the tissue-coupling element enters cardiac tissue in a direction parallel to a central longitudinal axis of the driver through the distal end of the anchor driver. The same is subsequently done for second and third parts of the annuloplasty structure using second and third anchors at second and third sites of the annulus, mutatis mutandis. Between anchors, the driver is retracted out of the heart. Subsequently, the valve is treated by reducing a distance between the first site and the second site, and a distance between the second site and the third site, by tightening a flexible and elongate contracting member of the annuloplasty structure.

  • Patent number: 11766327
Abstract: Systems and apparatuses herein include a longitudinal member having opposite first and second end portions, a tension of the longitudinal member being adjustable to repair an atrioventricular valve of the patient. A delivery tool can be configured to couple the first end portion of the longitudinal member to a first portion of heart tissue, couple the second end portion of the longitudinal member to the leaflet, adjust tension of the longitudinal member, assume a first diameter at a portion of the delivery tool that passes between the leaflets of the atrioventricular valve, during coupling of the first end portion of the longitudinal member to the first portion of heart tissue, and assume a second diameter that is smaller than the first diameter, at the portion of the delivery tool that passes between the leaflets of the atrioventricular valve, during adjusting of the tension of the longitudinal member.

  • Patent number: 11602434
Abstract: Apparatus is provided, including an implant including a tissue-adjusting member including a longitudinal member, and a tissue anchor coupled to the tissue-adjusting member and configured to be anchored into the tissue of the patient. A tissue-coupling element is coupled to the longitudinal member. A delivery tool is reversibly couplable to the implant and is configured to deliver the implant to the tissue of the patient. The delivery tool includes an elongate shaft, a tissue-coupling-element holder coupled to a portion of the elongate shaft, the tissue-coupling-element holder being configured to hold the tissue-coupling element during delivery of the implant to the tissue of the patient, and an actuating element configured to rotate the tissue anchor so as to facilitate anchoring of the tissue anchor into the tissue of the patient while not rotating the tissue-coupling-element holder with respect to the shaft.

  • Patent number: 11497605
Abstract: A method is provided, including treating a heart valve of a patient by implanting at the heart valve an implant including an elongate element including at least in part a tension element, by placing the implant at the heart valve of the patient, and subsequently to the placing, increasing tension of the elongate element at least in part. The tension element is configured to undergo conformational changes, subsequently to the placing, responsively to a cardiac cycle of the patient. Implanting the implant includes implanting the implant such that the tension element undergoes the conformational changes responsively to the cardiac cycle of the patient in a manner in which the tension element cyclically increases and decreases pressure applied to at least one leaflet of the heart valve by the elongate element.

  • Publication number: 20220079758
Abstract: An implant comprises an anchor that comprises a helical tissue-coupling element. A tool is configured to advance the implant to a heart of a subject, and to position the anchor at tissue of the heart such that the implant extends from the anchor proximally away from the tissue. The tool comprises a tube having a distal end coupled to the implant, and a deployment manipulator. The deployment manipulator extends through the tube to the anchor disposed distally beyond the tube, and is configured to anchor the anchor to the tissue. Presence of the deployment manipulator through the distal end of the tube maintains the coupling between the distal end of the tube and the implant. Other embodiments are also described.

  • Patent number: 11185412
Abstract: A method is described for use at a valve of a heart of a subject, the valve having an annulus, and the heart having an atrium upstream of the valve. A distal end of a manipulator is transluminally advanced into the atrium. A first part of an implant that includes an elongated contracting member is anchored to a first site on the annulus using the manipulator. The distal end of the manipulator is then pointed at a second site on the annulus such that a central longitudinal axis of the manipulator is disposed at an angle of 45-90 degrees with respect to a surface of the annulus. A second part of the implant is then anchored to the second site using the manipulator. Subsequently, the first site and the second site are drawn together by applying tension to the contracting member. Other embodiments are also described.
